The new corn beef hash looks and tastes like it came out of a Hormel can. Everything else was fantastic!

Excellent food. Daily specials are very good and unique. Delicious coffee. Friendly staff. Reasonable pricing. Can get busy at times, but worth the wait.

This has become the spot for monthly father/sons breakfasts. Awesome food, HUGE portions, and the orange juice...😍. Can get busy, but 100% worth it. Highly recommend!

Full disclosure: I went here for the first time on my birthday and this is the last place in Ann Arbor that gives free meals for birthdays, so I'm already a fan before I get there. In other words, the favorable rating I might give is already Northside's to lose at this point. Spoiler Alert: As you'll see, they didn't lose it. Here's what we found. It was a Sunday morning about 11 am. Parking was close by and adequate, and there was about a 30 min wait to get seated. The restaurant owns an enclosed but unfinished waiting area next door in the same building in which outdoor seating with electric heating elements are suspended above wrought iron (outdoor) tables where we were told coffee would be served during the wait. The coffee never materialized and while it was cold out (19 degrees) it was.sunny and no wind so the two of us waited with a number of others out in front of the building with our pager in hand. The predicted wait time of 30 min was accurate, the pager beeped and we re-entered to be seated in a booth (tables were available for larger parties). Menus, water, menus, utensils wrapped in a cloth napkin and condiments were already on the clean table and our server arrived a minute or two after we were seated to ask what we'd like to drink and whether we had any questions. We ordered decaf and asked about the details on the birthday offer whereupon it was readily confirmed that any single menu item or plate was eligible and free for the birthday diner. (As was the coffee and the additional sausage gravy that would normally add $3.50 to the bill, the point here being that the offer is real and made generously.) The menu is well-balanced, extensive but not overwhelming and primarily but not exclusively breakfast, which is served all day. Our server was polite, prompt, and friendly but not hovering (too busy for that anyway) and orders were prepared and delivered in an entirely reasonable time frame. The food was tasty, fresh, and portions were generous. There is a single unisex bathroom available to diners which is tiny (like a half-bath in a home) but clean. All in all our experience at Northside was most favorable. It was a classy but unpretentious version of traditional. The prices (between $15 and $20, which is not what I'd spend on breakfast on a daily basis) are typical of downtown Ann Arbor even though it's not downtown, but the premium is in large part being applied to quality of product and operation. This is somewhere I'd take or reccomend to a friend or family member who may visit infrequently but whose presence is valued and respected. It's essentially Macy's - traditional, but at the same time, classy and most of all, rock solid.

Came here after visit to U of M. The place was great, friendly helpful staff. We loved the atmosphere and the music was all great. The food was a little lackluster. My scrambled eggs could on been more fluffy (like cooked in a pan not just sheet of scrambled egg cooked on the flat top then folded over) and the blueberry pancakes kinda tasted like they came from box with fresh berries tossed in. Husdand said his food was too salty. But again everything else was great, no problem with the staff or the whole vibe. Just wish the food was a little better for the price we paid.

$5 for a black coffee is steep. Even if it’s from Roos Roast. As others have also said in recent reviews, these high prices don’t really justify this being an affordable breakfast spot anymore.

The food was really good overall, but there was a little hiccup with our bacon orders. Two of us ordered bacon — one plate came out right away, but the other took a while. When it finally arrived, the difference was night and day. One was clearly real bacon, thick and crispy from the grill, while the other looked and tasted like the microwave version. That was a bit of a disappointment, but aside from my bacon rant, everything else was excellent and the staff was very friendly.

Honestly been by this place So many times and it is Always crowded and lines..
I ordered Corned Beef Hash....
I was highly disappointed!!! It was Like Hormel Canned hash.. taken out the can and heated up.. no veggies nothing... Orange juice is fresh squeezed but over priced at $8!!!!! Like I want to see it hand pressed!!! Basically I could got this at a Detroit coney Island!!! I didn't finish and did not ask for a Doggie box!!
