Food was pretty mid to be honest…I ordered the rib platter that came with the 4 sides and bread. The ribs were kind of tough for some pieces, others were fall off the bone. The sauce was pretty decent to me but my wife didn’t care for them too much. The beans were just ok as well. Potato salad was good! The coleslaw was honestly just like the slaw you get from a bag at the grocery store just dumped in a bowl. The macaroni and cheese was also just ok.
The service was great though. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Plenty of seating. Clean bathrooms. Wheelchair accessible.
I’d probably come back lol wife probably won’t.

We have enjoyed many trips to Satchel's. It's always a tasty time. The meat is always smoked to mouth watering perfection. The variety of sides is great as we can change it up from time to time. I'm partial to the greens and green beans, but they're all very good.
This year we tried the Thanksgiving smoked turkey. It was by far the best turkey I've ever had. We often do something other than turkey because it is usually bland. Now that we have tried Satchel's turkey we will be getting it again when we can!

We placed a large carryout order on Saturday and I got to work with Hugh on planning for our event. Hugh was very fast in his emails, communicated very well any questions/thoughts/comments. He really made the process super simple with placing the order and then paying for the order. The food was awesome, the entire team loved every bite of it! This is the best BBQ in Ann Arbor; and that we have found in Michigan. It is our go to place and the sides are great as well. It is the only place we have found red beans & rice and gumbo. Great staff and service is efficient and well organized.
When feeding my work crew, they ask for Satchel's.
Customer service is excellent as is food quality. I can’t say enough about this local establishment. I have always had excellent meals from Satchel’s.

If you're looking for BBQ you found the best, go check them out and see for yourself you won't be disappointed, ribs, brisket, pulled pork, chicken and sausage, they have it all, and don't forget the sides, their collard greens are the best I've ever had and you have to try the satchel stew, I haven't had anything there I didn't like yet

Hugh was such a helpful part of our catering experience with Satchel's BBQ. We ordered catering for 50 people with a delivery to our business for a Staff Lunch. Not only was Hugh happy to provide a quote for our team, but he was very responsive, even offering to call me when I had an issue pop up why trying to pay. That level of personal customer care isn't mainstream these days, and the warmth from my interactions with this neighborhood business alone would bring me back to their restaurant. Our staff loved this meal. The green beans were my personal favorite just because they're so easy to get wrong, but when they're done right 🤌it's phenomenal. I even had one staff member say this was the best catered meal we've ever had, despite purchasing from some caterers that were quite a but more expensive. Lastly, it just pays to support a local business. When we decided to use Satchel's Hugh gave us a huge thank you message which warmed my heart. It makes such a difference in the lives of local business owners and I love that we were able to send them our business! You can't go wrong with anything on their menu but we loved the pulled pork, pulled chicken, corn bread, coleslaw and their homemade pickles. There was plenty to go around and a good amount leftover to send home with staff as well. I can't highly recommend Satchel's BBQ enough!
