My fiancé and I went here last night and it quickly became our new favorite "comfort" Mexican restaurant. The margs are delicious and not overly sweet, the portions are huge, and the flavors were serendipitously tasteful. I noticed there were plenty of vegetarian options too (including the wet burrito pictured below). The service was quick and excellent. Unrelated to food, but the murals are also really cool and contribute to the overall cozy atmosphere of this place.

Walked in around lunchtime. No host, was told to sit where we wanted. Wait staff did not seem too happy about that. Food was absolutely disgusting. Think of wet newspaper, rolled in Taco Bell meat. Instant stomachache. Not a fun time!! Would definitely not go back.

We are new to Ann Arbor and are looking for a great Mexican restaurant. We went on a Thursday evening and had a reservation but there were only a few occupied tables. The service was fabulous, everyone friendly, helpful and personable. We liked they made each Margarita from scratch to order. It was still too sweet for our taste but that seems to be the local preference. Guacamole was the starter and it was great. The mild salsa was very mild and the hot had a nice Smokey flavor with a bit more heat. We ordered beef fajitas, and round of tacos; Al pastor, americano and chicken tinga with a side of rice. The beef fajitas were nicely seasoned and cooked perfectly. We found the tacos to be unremarkable and the rice still a bit firm seemingly with a cooked separately tomato sauce mixed in after instead of all cooking together. A bit disappointing, they have a great location and potential. We had to walk past another Mexican restaurant two doors down that was packed with a long line. I liked the people here and I'm rooting for this place to get it together so there is a line out their door as well!

Service was not good. The food was decent. I do not recommend. I'm sorry to be honest but very werid vibes here. It's so outdated in the restaurant. Yikes.

I have been to Tio's many times before and usually really enjoy! It's better value and a bit more authentic than the other taco options on Liberty, and I like that they offer their tacos a la carte so you can mix and match. Good margaritas too - not too sweet. Unfortunately my lunch here yesterday was disappointing. I came in because I saw recently that they added Goat Birria tacos to the menu and I wanted to try them out. Sounds amazing. The positives - the meat in these tacos are generous, juicy, and tender. Onions, cilantro and lime to go with. However, the birria was really super salty, overpowering any other flavor. It was unfortunately almost inedibly salty. I'm hoping this was a bad batch, otherwise I would recommend just checking the recipe again to ensure they're serving what they expect. I think this has potential to be a really great taco. I also got a side salad which was basically shredded lettuce, diced tomato and green pepper, and a bit of shredded cheese. It's nothing super special but served its purpose and was a nice respite of freshness with the salty tacos. It comes with your choice of dressing, and they have some fun options. I got the citrus vinaigrette which was tasty! I'm still giving 4 stars instead of lower due to my great experiences here before. Usually Tio's is my favorite for tacos on Liberty when I want a more casual vibe.

It's been years since I last visited Tios. That makes sense since I haven't lived in Ann Arbor for nearly a decade now. Tios was always a good deal for a college student looking to fill up.It's still pretty good, but now I get to review the place in terms of family-friendliness. And it passes. Good options for the younger set and very good service for the kids. (Never seen a restaurant that simply brings out a full box of crayons for the kids.) We were two families visiting the place, and the kids had a good time. The food was good. The only complaint was that the mushroom filling for my wife's dish (she was taking a vegetarian option) was so salty she couldn't finish it. Meanwhile, I devoured my wet burrito. Probably shouldn't have because it was beyond filling. That's not a complaint, it's a compliment.I'm not sure if the complimentary chips are made in house. They could stand to be thicker and sturdier. They shatter too easily, especially in guacamole. That said, they're still tasty. Not going to impact my recommendation that people go here if they want a Mexican meal on U of M campus.

Nice food, attentive personnel. It's hard to pull out authentic Mexican food, Tios does a good job with their birria and some other dishes. It's a good option.

A group of grad students were turned away from ordering a pitcher of margaritas because they didn’t trust our IDs when the youngest in our group was 23. They lost out on loyal costumers that have eaten there before and were willing to pay for both food and drinks. Absolutely terrible service and will be getting margaritas from competing restaurants

Our server was Pablo M. Service was slow, and the steak was chewy. They rushed us out with the check before we were done eating. I felt very uncomfortable at this restaurant.

We ate here as a family last week and the food has really gone down hill. It used to be good Mexican food. The enchiladas were in more of a tomato sauce than a rancho, several of the tacos we ordered were completely different than they were during past visits. And, the queso was flavorless, in the past it was one of our favorite parts of the the meal. We also noticed that the chips used to be warm and we believe made in house. We saw bags of chips in the kitchen from Kirkland. The best part of the meal was the salsa, it was exactly as we remembered it. Most of the staff were extremely causally dressed and my daughter, who actually worked at Tios several years ago, commented that it looked like some were wearing their pj's.

Fun atmosphere, attentive and friendly staff! I have mixed reviews on the food:Guacamole - Pretty much as good as guac gets, one of the best I've had. Super creamy!Taco Flight - I tried 4 different tacos and honestly just found the 3 with meat to be bland. They are SUPER loaded with meats and just didn't love any of them. My favorite was the meatless one (the "Papa"), which was potatoes/cheese/sauce and pretty good.
