Their employees think the death of people is funny. Yes, I took a screen shot.
Friendly staff, quick service, amazing food, and the decor is fun.

Lunch before a night football game. We had the best deal ever, 2 Tacos & draft marg: $13. Everything was good. No parking nearby on game days.

Nice spot in downtown AA. Should have taken more pictures of the food, but was to hungry. Food was delicious. I liked that they had bottles of their BBQ sauces on the table to try. I was there as a family of four. The mac and cheese portion was big enough for us all to share. The kids LOVED the pulled and was stuffed by the end of dinner. The brisket was in point. Good thing we walked there because we needed to walk off all the food we ate.

We went to the restaurant before the game. The food and service was great. After the game we went back they just closed. My phone battery was dead and I needed a charger. Joe the manager charged my phone while we waited. I needed the to order Uber back to our hotel. Coming from Canada we were pleasantly surprised by how great everyone was. Thanks to the staff and great people of Michigan we had an amazing time and can't wait to be back.

Adorable place while in town for a Michigan game! There is a variety of seating and all feels very cozy. Unique menu items, I got the BBQ cauliflower and jalepeno sweet potato mash and both were very yummy! There is a coffee shop attached as well.

The food was delicious, especially my new favorite the jalapeño sweet mash, there is something for everyone on the menu too all styles of food. The atmosphere was very welcoming and comfortable.

- Prices and tips 3/5
although prices are in the high end, is not a high end restaurant they are more on the casual vibe. The system automatically requests a minimum 25% tip (yes you can update but still!), and they charge a 3% credit card fee “to mitigate their costs” but again prices are already on the high end for rice, pork, chicken in their items.
-Atmosphere and food 5/5
Great and fun place !! I had it saved on my list of restaurants to visit and I’m not disappointed. Everyone on our table enjoyed the chosen food which had all great flavors, we appreciated the fusion of Korean, Latin, bbq and other.
-Service 5/5 Our server Casey was very kind and friendly.

When you live in a college town, the whole town ends up divided into placed students go and places the grownups go with very few places that are big enough to make it ok for both. Union Rec might be one of the few places of common ground. A fun, casual and homey vibe with enormous portions of fantastic food that deliver a good ROI for students on a budget. Cocktails - worth texting someone about. Brisket is amazing. Sweet potatoes with jalepenos? Why did I never see that before? This is the site of the old lumberyard next to the UMich central campus. I suspect it will be many folks’ new favorite.

If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to sip a cold beer while contemplating whether cauliflower could be a personality trait—Union Rec is the place for you. My friend and I rolled in for some brews, ordered the cauliflower bites (which I’m 92% sure are magic), and then proceeded to devour our own entrees like two people who “aren’t hungry” but also have hollow legs.
Our server Katie was a hospitality ninja—appearing exactly when needed, refilling drinks, checking on us, and somehow making sure our food arrived in perfect synchrony, like she was conducting a flavor orchestra.
The layout? Top-tier. Plenty of space to eat, drink, and plot your strategy for yelling at strangers on the ice without spilling your beer. I’ll definitely be back—strictly to “watch hockey” (wink) and enjoy more food and bevvies with friends. And by “watch hockey,” I mean yell “DROP THE GLOVES” in between bites of cauliflower.

They were very accommodating to our same day booking of 30 people, the food was great, as was the service. They were out of a few menu items when we arrived at 7pm, but I can understand that when they smoke in house in advance for the day, we’ll just have to get there earlier next time! Wings were a standout for me, awesome!

Right now this place seems like all decorations/atmosphere and very little else. The food is bland a la Applebee's/Chili's. Would love to see this well-located, fun place, invest more in the ingredients, cooking, food, menu, etc.
