We used to love coming here, after 8 years away things had changed. #1 you order everything on the kiosk and not much help from a real person #2 We like a more moist and fatty meat and was told maybe not possible. #3 At checkout they ask if we wanted to tip; 20% or 25%? We gave 5% as they only hand you the food. We have to get our own drinks and clean our table after eating.

This is the kinds of restaurants we don’t like. Why ask for tips like a full sit down restaurant when it’s not.

The food? It’s was ok only, not as good as we remember it. $60 for 2 sandwiches and drinks.

Had dinner here last weekend with a couple of friends and it turned out better than we expected. The place had a nice cozy vibe, and the staff was super friendly without being too pushy. I ordered the grilled chicken with mashed potatoes, and it was cooked just right—tender and flavorful. My friend got the pasta and said it was pretty good too. Prices were fair for the portion size. Only small thing, it took a few extra minutes for our drinks, but overall, we had a pleasant experience and would come back again.

Preety good deli except for the big overbusiness of such a small place. I couldnt even get in because of the crowds around the door, and dont even get me started on the 20 minute line just to order. Then there is yet another 20 minute wait before you accually get your food. Its all self serve, you have to order at a desk, and pick up your food yourself- the lady forgot my sandwich in a corner for 15 minutes... The seating is all outside, and is very limited. You have to eat at tables right next to a parking, and all the tables are occupied so you have to sit with random people... Although the food options are very limited - only like, 5 types of sandwiches, and nothing other than sandwiches and salads. The food is preety decent though, so thats why I bumped up my review to a 4 stars. Also because I have had great experiences with other zingermans locations ( roadhouse, farm, creamery, cooking classes, bakery, etc). Overall, if you love sandwiches with outdoor seating, and a cozy summer vibe, this place is for you.

I only make a trip to Zingermans for special occasions as I live almost 2 hours away.
After waiting an hour for food our one sandwich and side of soup for $27, the food was inedible and pretty positive the little bit I ate did not make me feel well. The chicken on the sandwich was very overcooked, like trying to bite into rubber and the amount of toppings made the whole sandwich soggy. Then the soup broth tasted like water and the noodle dumpling tasted disgusting, not sure how this soup can be served and charged at $6. Waited an hour to regret the whole experience and waste of money. I do not recommend Zingerman’s anymore as the quality has significantly went down.

A stellar place for many decades, but they will quickly be disrupted if they can't reinvent the sandwich. They have bread locked in!

Ill start out with the superb service. The service here is just spectacular. Ive been twice once for my sisters bachelorette. The second time we came as a family, we do not reside in Michigan so I was super lucky to be there twice in one year. The food is beyond delicious but the market is also very cool and you can ask to try anything. I can not say enough good things about the staff. I highly recommend talking home some of their cinnamon rolls and their marshmallows. I wish I had a zingermans where I lived. The store works like a little complex with a deli and market in one building and a coffee shop with ice cream and deserts in the next. They have so many products from around the world like over 60 types of chocolate bars. In the market they have a deli with fresh meats, fresh breads, olive oils, vinegars, salts, and so much more. The menu has so much variety while not having too much. It is just the perfect spot.

I finally tried this local institution and it wasn't worth the expense or hassle.

I came an hour before closing and the place was deserted, which is preferable. Normally the line circles the block. The deli staff were quick to acknowledge me and the cheesemonger was quick and generous with a sample and offered more, but one was enough for me. I was directed to a kiosk and ordered a pastrami reuben, a side of garlic potato salad, a side of BonTon chicken pasta salad, one of each type of pickle and a piece of cake. The order totaled $46.

The reuben was stone cold in the middle, the cheese wasn't melted. The garlic potato salad was under salted and tasteless. Adding salt helped but it needed to be added to the potatoes during cooking to properly season the dish. The BonTon chicken pasta salad had very little chicken but was well seasoned was the best part of the meal. The buttermilk cake was inedible. The cake was dry, flavorless, dry and crumbly. The berry flavored buttercream tasted artificial, and the buttercream around the rest of the cake was very thick in excess of one inch at the top. The final insult, was I paid for two pickles and received neither.

A sandwich is more than the sum of it's parts; the assembly nearly as important and in this case, for nearly $24 it should have been perfect. It wasn't even close.

For nearly $50 everything should have been on point and it just failed to meet the mark. Go once to say you've been there but otherwise give it a miss; there's better deli out there.

By far the best delicatessen in the state.
I live in Chicago…and Zingerman’s still has the best Reuben sandwich. PERIOD. It’s a staple for a reason. Beyond the incredible food, their customer service is incredible.

I had placed an order for a client with a specific delivery time, but 15 minutes later, the client asked if we could have it an hour earlier. I called Zingerman’s, and their team didn’t just make it happen, they pulled it off flawlessly (sandwiches cut a certain way, modifications to a few sandwiches etc.) and had the food delivered within 30 minutes.

They consistently go above and beyond what any restaurant needs to do, and the food speaks for itself. Simply the best in the area.

Today we brought home the matzo ball soup with chicken and potatoe kanishes for dinner. We were so surprised because the soup and matzo balls had no flavor as well as the kanishes. Very disappointed. Just received an email and impressed with quick response.

Iconic deli. Great food. My wife and I shared a pastrami on Jewish rye, and it was plenty for lunch. Seating area has been expanded and deli counter selection of meat cheese and bread is great
