This place does not have a restaurant and is very dumpy!

CARLA'S GAVE AWAY MY BOOKED ROOM AND LEFT ME WITH NOWHERE TO STAY when it was freezing out. I had booked a night at this motel (via online) a few weekends ago during peak travel season. When arriving into town after a 4 hour car ride, they called me to tell me they didnt check their computer (missing my reservation), and gave my room away to walk in. They claimed they were now sold out but I could call their other hotel they own 45 min out of the way and see if I could find a room there. Why on earth would I give you my business when you took the room from me in the first place? Every hotel/motel from here to houghton was completely sold out. Thanks so much Carla's for giving my room away. Terrible business practices - would never attempt to stay here again. Be warned the same might happen to you and leave you SOL.

The restaurant burned down a couple of years back and was a total loss, so there is no food here. The rooms are old but they are kept very clean. They allow pets. Carla is a very good host!

This place! When I say this was a great stay I mean just that! Carla and Doug have that old school hospitality that is missing in this world! The rooms aren't the Hyatt, but that's the charm of this location. The rooms were clean, like they literally came by every day to check if service was needed, and big box hotels aren't even doing that anymore. They have wood for a fire, corn hole, and horseshoe games for those who fancy an a little fun on the grounds. The Sunrise over the Lake was beautiful each morning....we even had one guest pull his guitar out and play as the sun came up! Great stay, would definitely return!

I try very hard not to leave negative reviews on businesses because I have been on the other side. All you people leaving 2 stars and more must have extreme low standards or friends of hers. Best western or motel 6 would hands down beat this place.
But Carla was not pleasant at all on the phone when I called to let her know we were running late. She said well I canceled your reservation because I left messages and voicemail and you never called back. Prior to our trip my card was hacked I had no other issues with the 6 hotels I stayed at before here. She said ”well glad you call your card didn’t go through so I canceled the reservation (already paid over $200) you would have been sleeping in your car or Walmart parking lot.” I kept calm gave her new card which charged another $109 to.
So let go to the room it smelled like grandma musty house, there was no door for the bathroom just a curtain which was about 12” from the bed. There was 1/2 crack in the window from the from outside. The bedroom which was about 10-12 steps in leaned to the left and the back. So you didn’t know if you were going to roll off or have all the blood run to your head or both. The furniture was so old I originally there when she opened or garage sale. And to top it off I had a spider looking at me as I brush my teeth. We couldn’t get out of there faster. By the way the fire detector didn’t work either no red/green light on it. Plus room 10 totally left their dog in the room. It was so sad listening to him cry.

Very old and in need of repair and overpriced but when everything else was full I was grateful to be able to get a room. Seems the hot water is connected to multiple rooms as the shower tempos fluctuate. Place is just tired.

This lovely little motel has a cozy vibe, with a great unobstructed view of the Keweenaw Bay. It's conveniently located along the main road. There is no longer a restaurant, but we came here to sleep, not eat. The owner was super nice, and got us a room when we showed up late at night desperately looking for a place to stay. The room has a mini fridge, microwave, and coffee maker. It has outside entrances that you can park right by. There is a nice deck/patio for smoking or enjoying the lake view. It is pet friendly, and had a pet area. The motel and room is dated, with a 70's green sink, and old cracked drywall. It's certainly not the fancy sterile Hampton type of place, but is cozy, peaceful, and laid back. The bed was amazingly comfortable, and being able to open the windows and get the breeze off the lake was wonderful. We slept great here, and enjoyed our short stay. We would absolutely come back if we're in the area again.

Great spot if you need a night to stay. Nothing fancy but well kept. Would definitely spend another night here

Pros:
- We arrived at the motel late and the owner put an envelope with our name on it outside the office with our room key in it. Just shows you how safe the area is! The owner was also nice and helpful when we spoke on the phone
- Theres's a beautiful view of the Keweenaw Bay
- They allow dogs! :)

Cons:
- The main reason I'm giving 3 stars is because the wifi didn't work! Make sure you get a room close to the office so that the wifi works (we were in a room further away). I wish they mentioned the poor wifi or gave a discount for the room we stayed in. We had to use our phone data and we don't have unlimited. The wifi worked outside but we were attacked by mosquitos, so we had to decide whether we wanted to use our phones and be swarmed by mosquitoes or not use our phones and be bored while staying inside
- I'm also giving 3 stars because the bathroom door didn't close all the way, kind of awkward when you're sharing a room with your brother. And when I sat down to use the toilet, my knees almost touched the door and I'm not even tall. Also saw some bugs

Overall, solid motel if you're on a budget!

Clean little place and mostly quiet. Close to the road but barely any traffic at night. Walls are kinda thin. I'm hard of hearing and was pittying my next door neighbors. It's all 40's - 50's vintage but very comfortable. I was thrilled to have a recliner to put my tired feet up. Not really handicapped accessible with a handful of steps and no handrails nor any in the shower which was a half size stall in blue. Gotta love it 😀

It has changed. The pictures and reviews from a few years ago no longer reflect the current state. The restaurant is gone and the room was substandard at best.

We were camping in the forest close by and then it started to pour we were soaked and so was everything we had we also had 2 toddlers with us. When we pulled in Carla (owner) jumped into action. She helped us with the boys as we unloaded all the wet items and then she even took our blankets and clothes and dried them all even folded them. (Which we didn't expect at all) restaurant didn't look opened but the room was clean and super cute. But what made everything was the view of the lake. We were only going to stay for 1 night but we enjoyed ourselves so much we stayed another night. This spot is amazing and will be our vacation motel. Thank you Carla for being so amazing with our stays.

The motel exists but the restaurant seems to not exist any longer. Or perhaps the hours on google are very wrong.
