Good solid sushi. Friendly service!

I don’t know what was worse — the food or the attitude of the waitress. From the moment we sat down, she made it very clear that serving us was the last thing she wanted to be doing.

No greeting, no smile — just a cold stare like we had personally offended her by walking in. When we asked a couple of polite questions about the menu, she sighed dramatically and acted like we were wasting her time. It was awkward and uncomfortable from the start.

She didn’t write anything down, messed up the order completely, and when we mentioned it (very nicely), she just gave us a half-hearted “well that’s what you said” and walked off. No correction, no apology, just pure attitude.

She dropped the check on the table like it was radioactive and didn’t say a word. No “thank you,” no “have a good night” — just disappeared. Honestly, I’ve had warmer service from vending machines.

If you’re into bad vibes and worse service, this is your place. Otherwise, skip it.

Even though I live in Carmel, I always think of this place when I miss buljjamppong!!^^ Perhaps because of my mood, the bowl got bigger.
A friendly owner who welcomes my son who speaks Korean well (a middle school student who has been living in the U.S. for 1 year/obvious haha).
The tempura I ate before, I tried today ? It’s really delicious!! Even though it is close to closing time, it is crowded with customers. Every customer leaving has a happy expression on his face, just like the owner.

The sushi was very tasty. Each roll I had had a different flavor, which I really enjoyed. The quality of the fish was very good. I like that there was a large selection to chose from and also that my kid was able to eat some American options they offer. They have garlic fries not listed on the menu that a friend recommended and they were fantastic. Really enjoyed my experience here over all. I would recommend this spot!

Update - the bibim bap- did taste good. Now I understand I did not order well and should have included veggies with the meat - instead of Chicken only.

I was visiting back home and was looking for good sushi. I was very disappointed in the food and especially the service. I came in around 7. The restaurant didn’t close until 9. soon as I walked in the door, one of the staff member greeted me by saying they “ran out of rice”…NO rice is available, IN A sushi restaurant?! Which was extremely disappointing. After a few minutes. Another staff member came from the back and said they just made some more rice and were back serving sushi, and it was awkward exchange between the employees they seemed annoyed with each other. After that, I was walked to a table by the woman who told me that there was no rice, the table was dirty, splattered sauce and a sticky substance. The woman saw the spots on the table…used her HAND to try to wipe them off. Since They were sticky, they didn’t move and then she left. I really expected her to come back and wipe the table especially after she herself noticed but she never returned. I felt insulted. I had to go find her get out my seat and ask her to wipe the table. By this point I was pretty annoyed, but I decided to stay anyway since I made the 10 minute walk from my hotel to get the sushi, I ordered two rolls and both of them were quite lack luster, I ordered the salmon on the beach and it was bland and was falling apart when I barely tapped it with my chop sticks. The other was the YumYum. It was decent but didn’t knock my socks off. Also, throughout the whole hour that I was in the restaurant none of the waiters came to check on me, asked me if I needed anything or asked me: How was the food?
Although the bus people did keep my glass with water. As I was eating I noticed The staff was working to put different things away in the main dining room (restocking) and one of them handling the silverware kept coughing constantly. It really grossed me out when I saw her coughing and rolling up silverware and napkins, handling pop cans etc. She probably should’ve stayed home, especially working in the food industry. I would not recommend this and I would not go back save your money and time. What a disappointing experience

My dining experience tonight was absolutely amazing. There was a small hiccup with the hostess at the door, but Joseph came in and made up for anything that might’ve been lost in translation. His service alone will keep me coming back to Birmingham sushi cafe! He was very attentive and took his time with my party. The sushi was vibrant, the appetizers were delectable and the garlic fries were TO DIE FOR!! The cherry on top was the owner coming around to ask us how the food and service were. A true gem in the heart of Birmingham, I would not recommend them enough, and ask for Joseph yourself, he is like a friend to all. Absolutely will be coming back again when I want good food to eat, it is definitely worth the small drive out to Birmingham.

Food is good, as we go there often. But service and attitude is horrible specially from what I understand is owner’s daughter. Simple tasks like seating the customers, when asked about seating 5 from one moment to “we can’t sit 5” to next moment pointing the finger with entitlement & frustration , “ just go and sit at that booth”. Could not understand the rationale behind this behavior but to conclude that we were not welcomed. Any communication thereafter forced us to just leave immediately.

Daughter of the owner works there. Super rude. Mother (the owner) has no idea how to handle the issue with customer her daughter created. Note to the daughter - your parents built a business just don’t ruin it feeling the “princess” there. ??‍♀️ remember - business is sustainable if you respect customers or attitude will mean nothing ?

We come to this place pretty often. Was not happy with the attitude and behavior this time around.
