We hosted a private birthday event at this venue with nearly 100 guests and total expenditures well into the thousands. Based on the pricing and reputation of this establishment, we expected a professional, respectful environment. That was not the experience provided.
I assisted significantly in organizing and decorating this event. At one point, a staff member approached me and asked who was in charge. I explained that I was helping coordinate, but that the host was my brother-in-law. A member of your security team then referred to the host in a profane and derogatory manner in front of others, commenting on his appearance. That comment alone was shocking and completely unacceptable in any professional setting.
There were no clearly communicated policies or expectations prior to the event. Throughout the evening, multiple staff and security members conducted themselves in a way that guests independently described as rude, dismissive, and hostile. Numerous guests approached us expressing discomfort with staff behavior.
When we attempted to clarify simple procedures — including cutting our own birthday cake — responses were inconsistent. One security staff member stated that “the rules change every day,” which reflects a concerning lack of training, structure, and internal accountability.
An event that should have felt celebratory instead felt tense and uncomfortable due to staff conduct and poor management.
This level of behavior at a venue pricing itself at a premium standard is unacceptable.
I would appreciate direct follow-up from management regarding how this is being addressed.

Had a terrible lunch at Dick O’Dow’s today. The BLT salad had “Bacos” all over the salad (not real bacon) and a terrible salad dressing. The chicken wraps with arugula were all arugula and barely any chicken. Also no Gluten free buns! The music was blaring at times! Just an awful experience!!! We don’t make that mistake again!

Luckily the food saved the visit. The woman behind the bar couldn't have been less interested in seeing us and there was only one other person to start. Bbq flatbread and curds were awesome. Apple cider margarita average. Could have shaken to give it flavor versus me mixing with a straw. For 74 buck lunch a smile goes a long way.

It's a shame I can't leave a lower rating. I had an absolutely terrible experience here at Dick O' Dow's. The food was disgusting, none of the ingredients were fresh.
My salad had canned corn and jalapeños on it, the avacado was old, and the dressing was watered down, no flavor. The french fries, chicken wings, and chicken tenders were frozen from a box and just thrown in a fryer. They didn't even taste like they bothered to let to food fry long enough. The slider my son had as gross, luckily he's 5 and doesn't know any better, however he still didn't want to eat it.
When we addressed this the server, who was new, she was kind enough. But then the owner, Mitch I believe, came out and refused to make any accommodations for the disgusting food. He got loud and boisterous with us, spoke down to us, and was even so bold as to claim that they have never had any complaints the whole time he's owned the place. Needless to say I'll never take my family to this place again.
YOU should stear clear as well. This business needs to fail as it's a blemish on the prestige that comes from owning a business in the beautiful city of Birmingham. Find somewhere else in the two minute walk it would take to go somewhere else.

I would give this restaurant zero stars if I could. The owner is ill-mannered and incredibly offensive. Outside of the distasteful staff, the food couldn’t be more disgusting. When a 5 year old won’t eat a burger, that says something. Keep walking and find something better.
The bar stools are very uncomfortable. Had to find another place to watch the Lions.

We were there on a Sunday afternoon. Were waiting for a table on other place as it was my child baptism, and as it was really hot, we went in for a drink while we waited. We have a 2yrs and a half, and were there with 3 other kids, cousins visiting from Spain, we asked the guy before entering … and he said we could get in to drink something ! We were just sitting and having our sodas in the sofa’s area. Baby was making noise, but nothing extraordinary… the place was literally empty, There was just a couple of old men having lunch giving us really bad looks. The waitress came and said to keep it down, which is ironic because we have been there many times at dinner time, with such loud music and adults laughing soooo hard we couldn’t hear a Word ! And i am not exagerating! As we were getting this looks from this men, we decided to leave. I am sure, had it been American adults, laughing like crazy they wouldn’t had said a word… but we are from Spain speaking Spanish and with kids. If kids are not welcome they should advise it… I guess old …. picky men have preference! At the end we spent 50 usd and had to leave as these two were really giving angry looks. My kid wasn’t making any fuss, just normal kid stuff, and the place was literally empty except for this two! And as I said we were bothered there before because of the noise and we said nothing at all. I didn’t know it was a pub at evening and a library at noon. Food is horrible by the way, basic and just bad, but place is very big! we used to go there because it’s big and quite empty! Never coming back!!!
