Perfect dinner at Hazel's. Ate at the bar, where Heather is a wonderful and engaging bartender-server! Cocktail was well-made, the Rockfish was perfect, the potatoes were amazing! Service was top notch. Couldn't have been happier to choose this spot for a late dinner!!

Hazels is a great place for a casual date night or to come with your family. They are known for their fish but there are many options for those of you who don't like fish and they all taste great. Our waitress was very kind and always made sure we had what we needed.

Was seated near the window, which was nice, but what was outstanding was the high back chairs. Loved those. The place is cute, clean and casual. Attentive, friendly staff who don't mind if you split items. Shared the Maine Lobster roll and Fish tacos. They were very good- I prefer a bit more zest in the tacos but they were fresh and flavorful. We did squeeze in room for Key Lime Pie- delightful whip cream with lime zest topping. Perfectly tart with a killer crust.

We made reservations and when we arrived, were seated promptly. We got there during happy hour so we ordered the mussels and they didn't disappoint! For our dinner, we ordered the whole fried fish (snapper) and the rockfish. The fried fish was delicious and fried perfectly! It came with lettuce, tomato, avocado, onions, tortillas, and aioli so you can build your own fish tacos. We didn't need all of those "extras" as we were happy with just the whole fish. The rockfish was good too! It had pesto, crispy potatoes, and cabbage. We can't wait to go back to try the lobster roll and fried chicken! Parking is available at the garage (walking distance) and the first two hours is free!

As someone who’s from the east coast and eats evry seafood around hazels is just ok , lobster roll should be a lot fresher for the price the least freshest roll around no flavor kinda fishy and for being east coast theme mixing pork into the menu doesn’t make sense that’s more of a Louisiana thing and cheapens everything they combine it with on the menu , I still eat here once in a while the fried chicken is probably the best thing they serve , but it wouldn’t take much effort to really make this place over the top goto place they have a nice base just need to go the extra mile

Tried soft-shell Bennie should have been two soft-shell crabs. The one was so tiny. I would have preferred lemon caper sauce instead of hollandaise sauce.

Was happy with everything we had. Place was very clean, staff friendly and food good.Had the huevos ranchero which overall was very tasty, but it has mostly onion for vegetables. A more even mix of the onions and peppers would have made it top notch.Oysters were incredibly flavorful and a good choice for a starter.Clam chowder was packed with clams, a nice amount of potatoes and celery mixed in. Could have been a bit warmer, was closer to mildly warm than hot.Crab cakes were absolutely loaded with crab and had a nice butter taste, not just filler like most places.Basil Hazel was a great mocktail that I'd love to have again.Overall was quite happy, with a couple minor tweaks, I'd bump up to the 5th star.

Never been to Hazel's or knew it existed until a few weeks ago. Looking at the menu online it appeared to be a seafood restaurant, which was great because I was craving crab. Being that the restaurant is in Birmingham I expected it to be very fancy/upscale, but to my surprise it was quite casual and laid back (in a good way). When you come here I HIGHLY recommend the whitefish pate to share with the table. It is some of the best I've ever had, and even if you don't like food that is smokey it's still delicious. We also shared some alligator bites and coconut shrimp, all great as well. For my entree I went with the snow crab claws served with butter-boiled potatoes, green beans, hush puppies and rolls. Every...single...item on this plate was amazing and I finished it all. Service was also top notch on this particular evening. Can't praise this place enough, looking forward to coming back and trying other items.

recommend trying Hazel's, however be ready to deal with a mix of servers from kind and genuine to those who do not want to deal with your water refill. delicious seafood and nice atmosphere. good restaurant if you're looking to go a little fancy but not overboard.

I've been coming here for years. Seafood is amazing for Michigan. And they have this awesome whiskey highball machine that makes awesome whiskey soda drinks. They also have a great large screen TV setup.Lastly, they have an amazing back room for hosting parties. Had my 40th birthday party here and all the out of owners were raving.

Excellent seafood and overall restaurant. Beautiful space with high ceilings, great location on Woodward and Maple, friendly service, great drink selection, and delicious food. Love the lobster rolls they have. As someone who summered in Maine growing up, I can say that the lobster rolls here are as good as any outside Portland, Maine. I have only positive things to say about the food, beverages, and atmosphere here. The one issue I have concerns their payment experience. When I last ate there, they gave me a mobile Point of Sale (PoS) card reader for me to pay with my card, which we are all accustomed to. After paying for the meal, however, I was honestly surprised to discover that their three default tip options were exceptionally high—well above those of any other restaurant or bar that I have personally encountered. If I recall correctly, the three default tipping options were 25%, 30%, and 35%.Typically, these mobile point of sale payment systems provide default tipping options that range from 15-18% on the low end all the way up to 22-30% on the highest end. These are the generally accepted tipping options in America today. So, I was frankly pretty surprised to be presented with these three default tipping options after paying for our meal here recently. I understand that this is a great restaurant in a nice location, and that these factors perhaps influenced management’s decision to some extent to implement these specific tipping options. That is totally fine and is their prerogative. On the other hand, as a customer who enjoys both seafood and going out to eat, I felt a bit put off by that whole thing.Nonetheless, this is an excellent restaurant that I would definitely recommend to anyone nearby looking for great, fresh seafood.
