La Strada Italian Kitchen & Bar

The food was exceptional, the service outstanding, and the ambiance perfectly curated. The wine list was impressive, offering a wide selection to complement any meal. I highly recommend this restaurant for special occasions or simply a memorable night out. Every aspect of the experience was flawless.

I debated on the the score so I will give my experience. We were celebrating our daughter's last night home before she leaves for college. We selected La Strada based on their menu and tik tok paige that highlighted their fresh made table side pasta. We saw it on tik tok and their current menu on their site. When we arrived the hostess immediately started to seat us with our as much as saying hello. Not a great way to great guests but then she walked us outside. I quickly said hey I reserved inside so we can do table side pasta. She quickly said oh that's seasonal and continued to seat us. I said but that's the main reason we selected this place and wanted to eat inside. She totally ignored me and put the menus on the outside table and left. I was shocked and ready to leave but my daughter said she would try and find something else. The waiter came quickly and he actually smiled and was very pleasant, opposite of the hostess. He apologized and said it was he was embarrassed that he couldn't serve it and even though it was on the menu it has not been served for months. He did help us find alternative and we decided to stay as he was great! His name was Patrick and was a wonderful and pleasant waiter. He saved the day. The food was good, nothing special. Certainly not worth the high prices and portion sizes. Hostess I would give a 1 Server 5+ Food 4-5 Value 3 I really wanted to like this place and it was such a special night. Not sure how a hostess can be so rude at a high end restaurant. Also, I don't think I have ever been to a restaurant where they have an item on the menu are so shocked you want to order it. Just cover it up and remove it from your website.

The restaurant is beautiful and Service is great. As far as Italian food goes, it does not meet the bar. Although I would say I have an extremely high standard for Italian food gnocchi were a little bit too salty and doughy. Appetizers were OK at best, but nothing special, especially for the cost. As far as an eggplant Parmesan my advice to the chef is add a little bit of fresh mozzarella slices. Will make it a little less dry and a bit more creamer, which is what a proper eggplant Parmesan should taste like. 

Food and service were great. However the bar was totally inadequate. Bartender was sloooow, bar had no mixes. I mean NO mixes. Grapefruit juice, tomato juice, bloody mary mix, apple martini.... all NO. What kind of bar has no mixes? I'll go somewhere else for a drink before dinner.

Our first time dining at La Strada and can't wait to go back. Tony took amazing care of us and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Highly recommended.

Truly authentic Italian. I've been to Italy many times. His pastas and veal dishes are spot on. 

Service was great, the ambience and decor were lovely, the wine list was extensive, and the menu was notable, although almost every dish had some kind of formaggio in it (go figure). My only criticism of the cuisine was the salt content in the potatoes and wagyu beef, which was just plain overpowering. My date commented that the ‘wistful' classical music being broadcast in the dining room was not to her taste and gave the whole restaurant a rather staid air. Finally, restaurants should not offer a lower price in the bill for cash/debit payment vs credit card. This isn't a gas station; electronic payments should be part of the cost of doing business in fine dining establishments. Overall, we were pleased with our dining experience at La Strada and would recommended it.

What happened to their dessert availability? Not much choice. Waiter was attentive but made misstep when we asked to taste red wines with entree. He poured each wine to taste on top of prior wine remnants. Then when we made a choice, he poured that over the remnants. He should have given us a new glass for the wine chosen. Not good. We should have noted this at the time. We had not been here for some time. Our prior visits were much better food wise.

Joey bag o doughnuts was amazing ! We’re coming back to have food w him as our server as we had several bottles of wine this time. :) He’s amazing!!!

Joey bag-a-donuts was the best of them all. Everyone else fell down and spilled things. Joey did none of those things which made him the best.

 The restaurant presents as an upscale restaurant. There were many things they were out of & the bathrooms were unkept. Not worth the $. Needs managerial oversight.

Great restaurant and absolutely AMAZING staff all around. The hostess were extremely friendly when we walked in, we waited at the bar for about 15 minutes because we were early for our reservation but they seated us right on time for the actual reservation. Bartenders were great and had great wine recommendations.

Our server Tony was excellent and he has great recommendations. He was super friendly and also had a great sense of humor and had us laughing throughout the night.

Food was excellent all around especially the pistachio cheesecake we had for dessert. Would definitely return!

Stumbled upon this GEM!!! Ordered the Bolognese sauce pasta... Out of this world is an understatement! Would come to Detroit JUST for this restaurant! Third time back to Michigan so obviously third time back to this restaurant! Joey remembered everything about the last times I was here. Just an amazing experience!
