Food took too long and service was slow when it wasn't even busy. We were kept longer than we wanted to stay. Our waiter did not check on us and only came to bring our drinks and take the order. Food portions were small and very expensive for what they were. We also ordered the assorted pastries and two of the three were the same pastry. We brought it up to staff and waiter came to apologize and manager came to check and apologize. They removed the pastry from our bill and brought us another pastry which was nice. So they tried to make up for it, but I feel like these are every day issues that need to be fixed.
Literally the worst service I've had at a brunch venue in Metro Detroit. Took over an hour to get our meal and there was no one in the place. Waiter did not refill drinks in a timely manner, and the place was practically empty. Definitely a language barrier between weight staff and customer not a big deal, but he didn't even try to talk to us. Did not check back did not refill water
The atmosphere and service at this place are excellent — the vibe is truly amazing.
However, I ordered the yellowfin tuna, and unfortunately, it very disappointing, especially for $42. It was completely tasteless and lacked flavor. I usually enjoy raw tuna, but this one didn’t taste fresh and had a poor texture. The portion was small and not enjoyable at all — honestly, it was the worst tuna I’ve ever had.
The Madam cocktail was also quite underwhelming — very simple and not memorable. You could probably get a better experience with a basic gin and tonic

I've never written a poor review before, however, the staff was really unwelcoming (hostess) and absent (server). During the over forty minutes that I sat waiting at my table with nothing but a menu from the host—no water, greeting, other help—I looked up other restaurants and ultimately read a series of reviews and made a reservation to go get food elsewhere. There is more that I could say about my attempts to get help, discouragement I received as a solo diner on a Saturday evening but this restaurant has wasted enough of my time already! Regardless to say I won't be dining —or staying— here again.

This is upsetting even having to write this, we arrived at 8pm for a birthday dinner; our waiter basically disappeared most of the time, we had zero to no up keep for our table for drink refills and taking plates away. One of our guests didn’t even get her food: I complained to the manager around 9:30pm because our food was not there, around 10:30ish our food finally started coming out but at that point we were ready to pack and go. We never got to sing happy birthday or even celebrate the birthday girl properly. Our bill was almost $1000 and we paid it but for that service I would say we will not be returning.

It was a disappointing experience all the way around. The food was ok, we weren't able to sit in the Madam dining room, I was upsold to a $25 glass of wine because they were out of the $20 I wanted ... sub par all the way around. The staff didn't seem to know what was going on. I was excited to dine at Madam and was expecting to have a great experience based on all that I'd heard. In fact, I was contemplating having a large bridal shower at the Daxton but this experience made me change my mind.
Stopped in for a cup of tea. The valet snd hostess were lovely. I think our waitress (Katie) was having a bad night ...no greeting, no smile, no options 😐 But we enjoyed our time at the Daxton, anyway, and will return for a more substantial visit.

Madam is the most over hyped restaurant I have ever experienced. The food did not live up to its accolade of being award winning - expectations did NOT exceed and service was NOT unmatched. The food was beyond poor, including its, according to the waiter, pre-made and pre-cooked off-site burger and frozen fries, the chicken sandwich was dry, tasteless, and insulting, and the cocktails were an overpriced joke.
I recently visited Madam for a celebratory birthday brunch for my daughter. We were a party of four. The experience was absolutely disappointing. Although the young, inexperienced waiter, whom I tipped generously, was nice enough, the other staff were absolutely rude. As my daughter and I approached the hotel we noticed 6 young men who work for the hotel doing absolutely nothing and yet they did not think to open the door for us. Once seated, we ordered cocktails that were nothing more than tasteless coloured water with a splash of prosecco. All of the brunch entrees were disgusting, and although I sent mine back I was still charged for it.
The decor is akin to an Art Van installation - lots of gaudy colours, lots of lines, and cheap quality. The aforementioned includes their main attraction - the mechanical horse whose hooves drag across the floor resulting in an awful sound that echoes throughout the lobby and restaurant.
This restaurant is neither worth the time nor effort. If you want thought-provoking delicious food that never disappoints and great unmatched service in an absolutely beautiful venue, then dine at 220 Merrill - Birmingham.

I went around 9pm, it wasn’t busy at all the staff was super friendly, explained things on the menu when we asked and were attentive. The food itself was amazing, the Red Wine Braised Beef Short Ribs were incredible! The Loch Duart Salmon was cooked beautifully. The mashed potatoes were one of the best i’ve ever had.

Unfortunately this restaurant was a zero. The menu is very small and half of the menu is not available. The chef went out of her way to accommodate our choice. We appreciated that. The waiter was friendly but messed up our order and we were his only table. Friday night. No business. We obviously didn't know that this restaurant was a bust. But we know it now. It's obviously in trouble of staying open. I could never recommend this restaurant and I'd be surprised if it was still open by Christmas.
Terrible absolutely terrible
Food was truly terrible. Despite the unique menu descriptions the food was incredibly boring. Chicken was tough, salmon wasn't seasoned, shrimp pasta had nearly no shrimp and it was chopped fine like you'd see in cat food. The vibe was fine. However, the lights were on full blast through most of our dinner. The waiter was nearly whispering no matter how many times we said we couldn't hear him. He made sure to tell us several times about how the head chef had recently died and most of the staff was at the funeral. With all due respect- they should've closed the restaurant if that was the case. And being reminded of this several times put a damper on the celebration we were trying to have. The final punch in the gut - $30 for valet lol be so serious!! I've spent my life in Birmingham and NEVER heard something like that. Worst restaurant in the city hands down.
Beautiful restaurant! However, food and drinks did not match the ambiance. I was not impressed.
We dined for Sunday brunch for an intimate birthday celebration. Although nothing was provided for the birthday person, our meal was delicious, and the ambiance was very nice. The only issue was with there being so few diners, the service was still very slow. But again, the food was amazing, so we would go back again.
