The staff here are so kind and know everyone by name. The coffee is great and the atmosphere is intimate. The outdoor area is nice for larger groups and inside is great for meeting 1 other person or working/studying by yourself. I highly recommend trying this place out.

I've been to this coffee shop three times in total. The first time was when the previous owner was still running it. The last two visits were under the new ownership — and I have to say, the new owner has made some major improvements, all in the right direction.

There are lots of new items on the menu now. Some of the furniture has been updated, and the overall vibe feels much warmer and more inviting. It has that cozy, charming Swedish touch now — modern yet homey at the same time.

The quality of the coffee is excellent. The food is thoughtfully selected, and you can tell they’re using high-quality ingredients. I was especially impressed with the latte I had — it was made by the owner personally, and it was rich, smooth, and delicious. You can taste the care and quality.

Also, it’s privately owned — not a big corporate chain — which gives it so much more character and authenticity. It truly fits Birmingham well.

That said, while reading other reviews, I came across a 1-star rating that I found really unfair. Someone didn’t like the cheesecake and gave the entire shop 1 star based on just that. Taste in desserts is subjective — plus, cheesecake isn’t even their specialty. The menu has so much more to offer.

More importantly, a café experience isn’t just about one dessert. There’s the coffee, the food, the service, the ambiance — and this place excels in all of those areas. Judging an entire business based on one item feels extremely unjust.

Honestly, platforms like Google should consider ways to filter out overly harsh or disproportionate reviews. Small, independent businesses like this deserve better protection from that kind of noise.

This cute, cozy coffee shop has tasty salads, gluten-free treats, and fun drinks. I had the pistachio coconut latte it was just right, not too milky or watered down.

Worth stopping by!

Rarely take time to leave reviews, but Daycap is certainly an exception. Their lattes are absolutely to die for, and the food is several notches above standard cafe fare. But what really keeps you coming back is the staff—everybody really does make you feel like family. Highly, highly recommend not missing out on one of the coolest new spots in Birmingham!

I attended a meeting in Birmingham, that turned into a working lunch.

The facilitator of the meeting surprised us with a catered lunch from this gem.

I had the Spicy Italian Panini! My bread was toasted to perfection. With every bite came a nice crunch of bread and delicious ingredients. The meat, cheese, veggies and bread were all fresh.

I apologize in advance as I took the photo after I began eating my sandwich. I realize this sandwich was way tasty to not leave a picture with a review.

If you are ever in this area, stop in or order takeout. You will not be disappointed!

New ownership has definitely changed my opinion of this place. The Swedish flags have been taken down from the outside and inside of the establishment, but there’s still one near a toilet in the bathroom. I went in for a cinnamon bun as my birthday is the Swedish holiday, and the people working had no idea what I was talking about or why the cinnamon bun is as loved as it is in Sweden. I got a mocha and it tasted like pure black coffee, very bitter. The inside of the cafe has no charm or warmth like it did with the previous owners. The spark is just.. diminished.
