I have to agree with some of the other reviewers that the pizza isn't quite what it used to be, especially given the price, but I will say, It's still good

Tomatoes APizza is routinely one of the highest rated pizza places in Metro Detroit. For the most part, they live up to the reputation.I ordered a large half cheese, half pepperoni. The ingredients are very good, with the sauce being the clear winner of the pizza. The sauce has a nice richness to it that is immediately present when you bite into it. The cheese and crust are also decent, but I'll admit that neither stood out overwhelmingly. If you are a pepperoni lover, the smaller pepperoni on the pizza is an absolute treat as it is reminiscent of what they use at Green LanternThe pizza was cooked perfectly. For all the people complaining the pizza is "burnt," I suggest you go research how a coal fired brick oven works. If the bottom having some black on it bothers you, go eat Little Caesars. The only negative I had from my experience is price point. It is fairly expensive for a large, as my bill was near 30 bucks. Yeah, you do get quite a bit, but I do think you can get some similar size pizzas (think Supinos) for a much lower price. If you're not prepared to drop a good amount of money, this might not be the experience for you.If you are a big pizza lover, this spot is definitely worth a try. Any pizza where all the base ingredients are solid gets high marks in my book. Just be prepared to pay a little extra than you'd expect.

Sad to say since this is supposedly a famous pizza spot. The pizza was burnt and just not very delicious. We ordered 2 pizzas for $70 and I was hoping for more. They cut the slices horribly too, floppy pizza, toppings fall off. It’s a hard pass for me.

I'm in town from Charlotte, NC visiting my in-laws, and on our first night here, they ordered a pizza from Tomatoes. As we began to eat, I took a look at the slice on my plate, and noticed that the crust was burnt. 'Hmm"..I thought. This is delicious, and it looks quite familiar. A few hours later, I went to the garage to help throw out some trash, and noticed that the box said "Apizza", (pronounced ah-BEETS). Then, it was impossible not to visit the website, and upon clicking the "About Us" link, I saw the archway over Wooster St in New Haven, and it all came together. It's New Haven style apizza.I spent the first thirty-four years of my life living about fifteen minutes from New Haven CT, and this is the closest pizza I've found to what was back home. It's delicious, and memories of Pepe's and Sally's (two of the most famous pizza places on the East Coast) came back with every bite.To those who are complaining about the burnt crust...I'm sorry, but that's New Haven style. The burnt crust is a hallmark of New Haven pizza, and part of what makes it special. I know it's quite different from Detroit style, so I can understand the trepidation.Thank you, Tomatoes for bringing a bit of New Haven to Michigan for when we visit.

Best pizza around. If you like thin, crispy pizza, this is the one for you. Toppings are high quality and fresh and they are always friendly.

Pizza arrived cold and burnt. Driver wasnt happy with delivery fee and lack of additional tip (misunderstanding on my part) and wrote “no tip” across the box. Aggressive and unprofessional. I did call the managers apologized and gave a credit for a future order.

Food was freshly prepared and tasty. You should like the menu variety. It is "expensive"--but they position this as an upscale place. Parking was okay--adjacent to Papa Joe's so the lot fills up! Take out.

Not sure what is going on here but the pizza used to be top-notch and delicious. Now, as other reviews have stated, it comes out burnt. Literally black on the bottom, so chews like cardboard and tastes like charcoal. This is based on three visits in the last 6-8 months. Once was a favorite but certainly not worth it any longer.

Terrible quality, inaccurate orders it should be shut down for failure to represent the name Tomatos Apizza

We have been going here for the last two years since we moved to Michigan. In the past we had enjoy the pizza, but lately we have noticed a change. Every time we order at the pizza comes burnt. We even called back to have them re-make a pizza and it came out burnt again. Black underneath and edges. Very disappointed. Instead of a refund we just won’t be returning again. For a $32 pizza we want it to be good. I would pass on this place moving forward.
