I've been getting a Vienna Torte for my birthday ever since I went to a grad party that served it. So sad to see the bakery shutting their doors.

You have to do your best to control yourself from buying out the place. High quality and quite tasty pastries and desserts.

Located near the library and park with easy parking! I love to drop in for mocha and dessert. Try their chocolate mousse cup!! Dark, velvety, decadent.

Cakes are great and their buttercream is to die for. Their lunch offerings are great quality and value. In particular, if you want a quick snack but don't want to go to the hotel restaurant for a sit down this is the place to go. Their bisques are amazing.

EVERYTHING sold is delicious to the eye and taste.

Terrible experience at this bakery. The food does not taste good, made with low quality ingredients. There is only a small selection of cookies and cakes. The coffee tastes like old residues diluted in large quantities of water. The place itself is relatively well decorated but they don't give you sugar/napkins/cutlery. Staff was kind, but the service extremely poor.

This bakery is on point. I think some people cannot be satisfied no matter what.

I recently purchased Townsend Bakery's renowned "Bavarian Cream Cake", for my wife's December birthday. Based on all of the many great reviews it's received, our expectations were high. As instructed by the TB staff, we sliced it after allowing it to sit approximately 1-2 hours at room temperature. Sadly enough, both my wife and her birthday guests who sampled the cake, were shockingly disappointed. Agreed, it's decorative presentation was supremely inviting, but it's overall taste, texture and flavor were unbearably dissatisfying, unsavory and inconsistent...simply nasty ! Overall, the cake was excessively dry and lacked the true, natural "Bavarian Cream" flavor. We suspect it was overpowered by the distinctly noticeable cooking oil (Crisco) flavor, which was present in each slice. Conversely, the Townsend Bakery staff was very patient, courteous and professional, which slightly lessens our disappointment. Who are the pastry chefs at Townsend's ? Fortunately, there are a host of other noteworthy Metro-Detroit bakeries, who actually do sell a "Bavarian Cream Cake" worthy of their $50+ price.
