My husband and I visited Wilders for the first time and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. We had a 6:30 PM reservation and arrived on time. Around 8:05 PM—after spending over $300 and leaving a generous tip—we were approached by the hostess and told that our “time was up” and we needed to leave.
This was especially surprising given that Wilders is a steakhouse, where dining is typically slower-paced and relaxed. The couples seated on both sides of us had arrived well before we did, had already finished their meals, and were still sitting and talking—yet none of them were asked to get up. We were the only table approached, which felt inconsistent and unfair.
We’ve been Birmingham residents for 10 years and have never experienced anything like this at any restaurant in the area. It was an uncomfortable and embarrassing way to end what was supposed to be a nice night out.
We had even been considering returning with friends for a future dinner, but after this experience, we absolutely would not. In fact, we would never return based on how we were treated.
We were genuinely excited to try Wilders, but this interaction left a very negative impression and makes it impossible for us to recommend the restaurant to others.
From start to finish, our experience was nothing short of exceptional. Every detail - from the lighting to the music - set the stage for an unforgettable meal. Service was flawless, food was simply outstanding. If you're looking for a place that delivers true fine dining without pretense, this is it. Absolutely deserving of every star and I cant wait to go back!

Very Nice ambiance . Super service and nice food.
We absolutely loved our visit to Wilders! The restaurant is stunning—truly beautiful and cozy, with many thoughtful touches evident throughout. The staff is wonderful and attentive; we felt well taken care of from start to finish. While the food was great (kudos to the chef!), the martinis are the true shining star of the experience. They are easily the best I've ever had. We will definitely be back!

We had a wonderful experience thanks to our server, Heidi. She was welcoming, knowledgeable about the menu, and checked in often without ever making us feel rushed. Her positive attitude truly made our meal special. Highly recommend asking for Heidi if you visit!”

Food was terrible, the wedge salad, how could you screw that up, was terrible. Would not even consider giving it a second chance. $210 no drinks no desert, still have a bad taste in my mouth so does my wife. If it doesn’t improve you might as well close.
Great vibes mediocre food. Great cocktails

Completely average. We waited a half hour for the table we reserved and there was no comp. The steak was baked and dry, confirmed by server. The asparagus was flaccid. Our $20 martinis were watered down. The salad presentation was akin to Pizza Hut. Very disappointing dining experience. We will never come back.

Everything was perfect, from the beautiful napkins to the thoughtfully crafted cocktails and of course the food (and the bread is worth the splurge).

Honestly, we have frequented restaurants for many years, but have never made the journey to the north end of Birmingham yet as surprising as that sounds. First off that was the best valet experience I've ever had where The gentleman (I completely forgot his name, but a very handsome man) Not only was super courteous and respectful to my elderly parents, but even held my mother's hand and helped her all the way to the door while also dealing with multiple cars at once all with ease! That set the tone for a wonderful evening of Delicious food and exceptional service! Five stars undoubtably Will be returning! Between the host and hostess who made us feel at home from the start to the exceptional service through throughout the evening and of course delicious food we thank you for an amazing night!

I wanted to check it out. It wasn't busy at all. I asked the host (girl) if I could sit at the bar she said sure. Then some older gentlemen intercepted me saying the bar was reserved for pato reservations and I wasn't allowed in. I was dressed upper casual I was respectful. I had him repeat himself cause I wanted to make sure I heard him right.. he was very condescending and pertentious.. I've been to finer restaurants in manhattan milan south beach Rome Munich and countless other spots never an issue. Before you deny someone make sure you make it believable. If he would have said you need a button shirt aka a certain dress code I would have accepted it. I walked back later to find the place wasn't busy at all.
Tip to everyone the food might be good but you can get a better else wear and a better setting and definitely better service..maybe if I would have valet my car and he would have seen what I was driving he would have been a bit nice who knows .
Terra kitchen is a better spot better vibe . Or just hit a good spot in Detroit if you want expensive food..
Peace and love to.you all who read this
