Bring the kids! It may not be obvious as you drive up, but this is a full-fledged candy factory! You can actually watch the candy being made from the observation area! My wife and I really “geeked out” here because it reminded us of going to the Saunders store back when we were kids. They have a wide selection of confection, ice cream (Gurnsey Dairy) and other items - including their legendary hot fudge topping which you can buy in sizes up to a PAIL! NOTE: In adherence to their rules, the factory photos posted here are from their video screen in the lobby (photos/videos of the actual operation are not allowed - Slugworth may be watching)!
Fun to watch the caramels being made and glad to see the factory was spotlessly clean. Bumpy cake was good too!
Nothing beats Sanders for nostalgia and the ice cream selections are decadent. Couldn't help to stock up on sea salt caramels - the best!
Great gifts for the whole family
Disappointed in their chocolate offerings. No made up assorted boxes of chocolates, which was THE Sanders Hallmark. You could make your own gourmet box from their case, but still. Ice cream counter selection way more limited than the days of old, if you're old enough to remember. Cool to see into the chocolate factory, though.
Friendly staff, great salted carmels
Love this place. Went here as a kid on school field trips when it was Morleys Chocolate. It's definitely not as cool as it was then, much more business-like. Even watching the candy being made then is watching it being packaged now.
Bring back the authenticity. And bring in some dairy-free vanilla ice cream so we can all enjoy it! 😉
Friendly staff
Sanders is as much an institution in Amanda’s household as it is in Michigan. Well… at least the dark chocolate sea salt caramels I buy in bulk from Costco are. That’s really the extent of my Sanders experience.
So when I realized I was only 20 minutes from the famous flagship location during a trip to Detroit, I happily drove the 40 minutes it ended up taking (thanks to a rainstorm straight from the apocalypse) for one thing: the Hot Fudge Cream Puff.
ABSOLUTELY. WORTH. IT.
The chewy cream puff shell, stuffed with creamy vanilla ice cream and drenched in rich, hot, gooey chocolate fudge, was everything I’d hoped it would be. Every bite was perfectly balanced. The slightly savory pastry kept the ultra-sweet vanilla ice cream and decadent hot fudge from becoming overwhelming. Whoever created this dessert deserves everything they’ve ever wished for and more.
Heaven in a bowl. Omggggg. 10/10.
I’ve been buying Sanders on Amazon from Seattle last couple years.
I made it to Detroit on July 17, 2026
We drove 13 miles out of our way to go to Sanders in Clinton. They were closed due to air quality. They have an indoor business.
The only store in Detroit that closed because of air quality there is an outdoor Italian festival going on down the block.
I will never go to Sanders again. I will never buy another Sanders project. This is completely on business like.

Go often when I have time. Enjoy doughnuts and coffee. Staff is upbeat and friendly.
Every body was nice and fast to get me unloaded. They also gave me free candy. The best place I've been in years . 3
Great service and delicious treats.
Delicious
Sanders name says it all. The connection with delicious tasting novelties and this name broaches generations. Stop in for a taste. I did and will again.
