This is a fun little bakery that has amazing and decadent pastries and the like. We got a Carrot cake roll that is to die for. SO RICH! Homemade all the way and worth every cent.Kid-friendliness: All kinds of photobooth options and a little boutique filled with Merch plus educational historical memorabilia too.
THE BEST raspberry Bismarck I've EVER had!!! My son brought one home from college for me as a treat and boy was it! Finally, a bakery that gets me. Soft, pillowy, TONS of filling and generous icing. It's ridiculous how happy this doughnut made me.

The real story is the history. I'm told the doughnut entity has been around since 1896 when it was Clare City Bakery. In 2009, nine Clare police officers purchased the struggling business and today they boast over a half million visitors, annually. It's clearly a legend in the northern Michigan doughnut community and the town loves this place. I found it to be a bit pricey and the doughnuts are decent but not great.
