There’s still some room for them to grow, but this throwback to the 1980s family pizza chain brings back the memories for those of us who enjoyed this as kids to share the experience with our kids. The pizza is made fresh on site and the animatronics are as I remember them. They do a phenomenal job reaching out to their fans/followers on social media as they try to deliver an updated experience to serve both kids and adults alike. I’ll be excited to see them perfect their craft as they return to prominence.
Food is terrible, place is filthy and minimal things for the kids. This is not the Major Magic's of years gone by this is a very poor excuse for a comeback. Planned a birthday party, site unseen or never would have, was told they did not have any party supplies yet so they would give a 20% discount if I supplied my own and then on the day of the party when I questioned it they argued with me about it. Terrible!
Turned around and left! It was a complete let down. The building smelled funny, games were sparse, and atmosphere was plain ol'dingy. We took our boys to Chucke Cheese. I don't foresee this place being open for business long. This facility doesn't deserve to be called Major Magic.
Ughh, what a letdown! I was at Major Magic's evening and spent just a few minutes there. The bands didn't play and I was waiting to see them but got tired of waiting. The arcade is what really depressed me. I don't remember lots of pinball and that was most of the place. There were a lot of weird money taking things for kids, none remind me of the past, and they took up a fourth of the floor space for games. There are more tables and chairs than games. The arcade games were all from the very early 80s and not from the late 80s to 90s. Not one of the games I associated with my times in the past were there. No TMNT, no Ghostbusters. There were a bunch of games I just was not interested in playing. I am sad to say that I walked around and saw nothing to do, and I left. I don't know about the food, but that's not what Major Magic's was to me. It was the games and the stages going the whole time. I really, really wanted to love this. I don't know who this is for as there aren't many games aimed at kids, just ticket grabs, and the arcade games are really limited to upper 40s players. It just was a bummer, you can't go back in time.
Awesome place
Went to groesbeck majors and was totally dissapointed. Half the games did not give out tickets, and the rest focused on adults. Doesn't live up to the old majors
I was pretty excited totake my kids with me on a stroll down memory lane... 6p.m. Friday night, they were closed.
Had my daughter’s birthday party there and everyone had a good time!
3.5 stars...All the same animatronics as when I was young. But they are dated for sure and all the games are from early 80's so most kids see them and compare to Xbox or PlayStation. I feel like the game selection will make our break this place. Nice pinball selection. I really hope this place succeeds, very nostalgic and the potential is there. Reminds me of my childhood. They just need to invest back in to the company and get new games.
It is like a dream come true to see all the old Major Magic's artifacts even the big red doors and all the animatronics that I grew up loving and dancing with.. & now a decade after being closed I get to watch my kids dancing and loving it as much as I used to and still do. Games are 25-75 cents compared to places like Dave&Buster's and CJ Barrymore's games are about $1-$3 or more I'm pretty sure. I stopped going to those places with my kids because it was always disappointing for them.. and stressful to me to pay $20-$50 put on to a card that goes so fast in only a few minutes on only a few games and all of a sudden the card is empty and then the prize rooms are always nuts too. They are so big and dark and I just cant even afford to take my kids there.. maybe once a year at the most. We can go at least once a week to this little Major Magic's. We love it so much. I give my kids $10 and they can play for a few hours and they have a blast playing the old games. The owner is so nice and is always right there fixing the games and animatronics. The pizza and breadsticks are so delicious. Everyone who works there are very sweet. When the kids run out of quarters they are happy to go get some prizes and watch one last show before we go. It is so fun eating dinner and watching the animatronics shows. We plan to go at least once a week.
Restaurantji Recommends
It is really very small inside so unless you plan on seeing the animatronics there isn't a whole lot to do but it's a great trip down memory lane they have great old games to play and share with your kids.
Horrible, half the machines don't even work and the ones that do don't give tickets out properly. We were very disappointed and we didn't have very high standards walking in the door.☹
Ok. So I went in with low expectations after reading recent reviews. This is not the Major Magics I remember from childhood. Location is smaller than the 15 & Gratiot venue. I remember the restaurant that it was before so I was surprised to see it in this location. I still went in hoping for the best.
Pros... kids enjoyed their time, 3 and 7 years old. We did get to see one animatronic show while we were there and that was fine. We did not get to see the bear show. We were there for about 1 1/2 hours.
Constructive criticisms... quarter machines were not working, but staff was happy to give quarters from the desk. We ordered one large cheese and peperoni pizza and that cost $16 and took over 45 minutes. It was not that busy... maybe 6-7 families there. Once we finally received our pizza, the dough was not cooked all the way in the middle. We each ate a slice at best and threw the rest away. Employees were not super friendly. Not many smiles. Not any hellos. Not any welcomes. One of the games was making a sound the whole time we were there that it was out of tickets, but no one did anything about it. We weren't even really sure who the employees were because there weren't any uniforms except for some red smocks for the kitchen people. No name tags. Your customers are your bread and butter, please make us feel welcomed! Not all the lights or games were on in the building either. Not sure if that was to conserve energy or cost savings?
I really hope management reads this review in hopes that they can turn things around. We want to see this place succeed, but there are kinks to workout.
I might return, but only to play games. I'll pass on the pizza.
The staff is friendly and the show is a lot more enjoyable then the chuck e cheese animatronics
From the minute we pulled up we were disappointed. We went with our toddler and there was really only one game he could play and a couple worn out rides. Layout is terribly close and it is hard to move around ( constantly in someone’s way). Games are worn down and the whole place just feels dirty. After playing a few games I had to ask if they were supposed to be giving out tickets since we had not recieved any. Ticket prizes were also a disappointment. We didn’t bother to try the food. We only stayed about 20 minutes.
