I’ll start off by saying I’ve been a customer for years. I started coming here in my late teens when it was still ran by the original owners and called Detroit Fish & Shrimp, instead of Motown. Back then it was amazing, extremely fresh caught fish and shrimp. He sourced his supply from fisheries in the Eastern Market area. The portions were always generous and at a great value. Then he sold it, and the name changed. He said the new owners promised they would keep everything the same. So I kept coming. Gradually, I seen that was a lie. It first started with the condiments being switched out for low quality off brands. Portions decreased a little, and prices went up a smidge. You could taste the difference in the quality of the fish. Especially the shrimp. That one was the most obvious, as the shrimp the previous owner used was outstanding in flavor and was large. Since then, the food has continued to decline. The fries were changed from a large width steak fries to small thick cut fries that burn easily. The portions continued shrinking while prices increased, this time in multiple dollar amounts. I suspect the store may have been sold another time. Which is likely the case, as I seen a month or so ago that it was up for sale under commercial listings. Nevertheless, today took the cake for me. I decided to try again despite the last order I had. Which was despicably skimpy. I was hoping it was just an off day since I hadn’t ordered in a while. Nope! Today, I received the same skimpy order as last time (at least my fries weren’t burnt this time). However, to confirm my suspicions I decided to whip out my food scale. I ordered the fish & chips (consists of 3 pieces of cod). I weighed the paper thin pieces I received, and after being battered and fried each piece still weighed below 3 oz. The smallest coming in at 1.54 oz and the largest coming in at 2.54 oz. They price this meal now at almost $20. You can buy a bag of wild caught cod fillets at Meijer for $13-$14. And the pieces will weigh 5-6oz. This place has gone downhill. Don’t waste your money, and this is coming from a longtime customer. It’s far from being the same. The original owners would have NEVER!

Well I did like this place and was a customer until I went to pick up a DoorDash from there. I had to wait which wasn’t a big deal. The little brown haired guy comes out yelling at me about how it’s a holiday weekend and they are slammed. I never said a word to him about waiting, was sitting there quiet. Extremely rude, won’t be back as a customer ever.

Friendly . Cashier he is great and patient. I like the deals and they have good coleslaw and fries . I didn’t care for chicken just because it had a little smell and bone was really dark but the fish was pretty decent. Overall you at least get your moneys worth.

The atmosphere isn’t terrible just need maybe some new cushions on the bench it’s really just a order walk in grab your food type of place.

I ordered from Motown fish company because I was told the fish is really good. I ordered a cod dinner with XXTRA tartar sauce. I had it delivered. I paid for 27.00 for 3 pieces of MOSTLY BREADING AND BURNT FISH. IT LOOKS LIKE BURNT BATTER. HARDLY NO FISH. No tartar sauce. And they would not refund any of my money. Told me they would give me a free dinner. UGGGHHH WHY WOULD I WANT ANOTHER TERRIBLE DINNER FROM THEM. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THEM AT ALL.

I'll be blunt. Fries suck. Fish and chips were over cooked in old oil and the fish was definitely not Cod. I can get better quality from a Coney/Diner for less $$$.

I order from Motown all the time, (years) staff and food always excellent. I ordered fish dinner and shrimp today and no change. It's truly a must try.

Excellent - $7-window meal was incredible! Southern chicken, fish and fries. My 90-yo mother says can we get a free dinner for leaving this rating? 😅
