I have been going to Bart’s bakery for 40+ years use to be a great bakery. Have been living out of state. I have been to Bart’s twice in the past 90 days definitely my last time. It is definitely not what it used to be to be and this is my last visit.

Bought 3 donuts this morning. I've been wanting to stop by for years. Today was the first day I had a flight leaving after 8am which would allow me to stop by. The donuts may have been fresh although I couldn't tell. I should have continued to drive straight to the airport.

When I go to Detroit, Bartz is a must go to while I’m there. They have a large variety of donuts as well as cakes, cookies, breads. Check it out!! You’ll be glad you did

First time here a friend recommended them and another place. It was very warm in the store I'm not sure what they do when it's in the high 80's outside. I got a danish which tasted odd almost like pizza dough. I got raspberry filled cookies , no flavor what so ever. It looked like they did a lot of cakes.

This was one of my favorite bakeries for years. No more. Perhaps they have new owners? Anyway, they used to have the best napoleons. Now, they haven't even had them recently. The service is abysmal. Today the front counter server was taking a phone order. There were at least 3 other workers in the store and not one acknowledged me. I got a piece of Carrot cake that was stale. I threw it out. Overall, very disappointing.

the last three two times going to Bartz, i picked up cupcakes to take to an event. The cupcakes were stale as heck! I couldn't imagine it would happen for a third time. I called an order in over the phone, asked if they were made fresh today and the answer was "yes". Picked them up on the way to a birthday party and asked again if they were made fresh today and they told me "Yes, definitely made today".
Well AGAIN, they were stale!!! I did call to let them know I was NOT happy with them. The young girl did apologize and that was it.
I found out they pre-make the cake, and frost them on the morning and call it made fresh today!!! The worst I've ever had. No long going to there.

The counter person was very friendly and knew her products. Even asked for a preference when it came to center or corner piece of pie! It was fresh and very tasty
Friendly staff. Go to shortland of many many products. Also check out the nail rack just to the left as you come in the door lots of goodies. And if you think you can buy and Dale bread is not a good idea tell me are you going to eat that whole loaf of fresh bread today probably not that means tomorrow you'll be eating day old bread. It reminds me of an Eastern Europe. Bakery type of vibe. Everything is made fresh daily. The one thing I like most about this place. It does. Not overuse sugar. The baked goods here are packed with flavor instead of sugar I love that!!!

The pastry was very disappointing. With the first bite of all of them I could tell right away they weren’t fresh. I’m not sure how long they had been sitting but it was very clear they were old. I do not recommend going there. I wanted to give them a better review but I’ve tried a dozen different cupcakes, a brownie, and an upside down cake. And they all were old.
