What a disappointing experience. We were so looking forward to a wonderful meal and experience o 12/23/2025. We paid a fortune for a disgusting meal in a Smokey old building. We went to the 5:00pm seating and someone had not fully open the fireplace flue and the restaurant was filled with smoke. It was so bad in the beginning that I heard a caroler say they could not sing in the smoke, so an employee opened the door to air it out. The meal was a total disgrace. It is served family style so a group of strangers handle the food before you get your serving. I sure hope everyone washed their hands. The meat were over cooked , tough and salty. The carrots were properly cooked and the only thing I enjoyed. The ginger cake was inedible. It was so hard and dry I choked on my first and only bite. This cake should have been repurposed as door stop. The chefs should be ashamed to serve such garbage. I understand that they are looking for an authentic Christmas past experience but did the quality of the food really need to mirror that of the 1600s? I can’t believe I waiting anxiously to buy a meal at this place. If you want to do the Henry Ford experience find someplace else to eat to decent meal and just come enjoy Christmas at Greenfield village. You do not get what you paid for at this restaurant.
Visited for a wedding reception. The food arrived in courses and looked very inviting and well done. The tempeture and taste did not measure up to the appearance which was outstanding. It was good but not excellent but it was a good sized party all eating at the same time. The service was above and beyond. Highly recommend these people - they have a handle on how to treat guests. The building was awesome. I had Grok give me the history and cant say enough about how they preserved it and the interior decorations. Good job to whomever keeps up with it.

From the moment of entry, the atmosphere achieved a rare feat of temporal displacement, making the experience feel less like a meal and more like a historical journey. The energy was vibrant and the attention to period detail was exceptional.
The service, in particular, elevated the visit. The staff were remarkably warm and attentive, with our server maintaining a genuine, infectious smile that demonstrated true passion for her role. Her willingness to accommodate a table switch only added to the welcoming feel.
After a negligible eight-minute wait, the meal commenced. I consciously chose items emphasizing historical accuracy—the cold meat and cheese platter, alongside the fried sweet potatoes—and the food proved to be excellent.
However, it was the small, authentic touches that transformed the setting: the water arrived in a clay pitcher crafted right on the premises, a detail that beautifully reinforced the authenticity of the experience. This remarkable atmosphere and dedication to immersion make this a destination I would enthusiastically return to.

Hands down the worst dining experience I've ever had. The waiter took forever to even acknowledge us, he said the green beans were delicious. We ordered the dumplings and it was the most bland food I've ever tasted. Not any seasoning what so ever...not even salt or pepper. And the green beans the server ranted about being so good were just green beans boiled in unsalted water lol I had to leave my table twice to ask someone to get us salt and pepper because there was no way I could eat that bland food with nothing on it...as well as had to ask another waiter for water because our server never checked on us. Then they had the nerve to ask if we enjoyed ourselves. We paid,(terribly overpriced ) and only tipped only 10% because it was just so horrible it was almost comical. Idk how they are getting away with serving such awful food.
The moment I walked in, I felt like I stepped back in time, I love the energy, the staff were soooo nice and she seemed like she liked her job.. she was always smiling and even let me switch tables.. the wait was only like 8 minutes or so, the food was good.. I ordered the cold meat with cheese plate and fried sweet potatoes.. I wanted to order something I knew was more historically accurate.. the water was brung out in a clay pitcher MADE THERE!! AH, what a great atmosphere, id definitely go again

Arrived really hungry at Greenfield Village after a long drive and no breakfast. They gave rolls and small corn muffins, raspberry preserve and sweet pickles - anll very tasty! I ordered the Beef and Onion Stew - it was really good and the amount of beef in the stew was incredible! My wife ordered “A Curry of Chicken” but wasn’t as impressed as her portion lacked flavor and the corn on the cob was over cooked. Our drinks, hard cider and a Kentucky Maple Sour were good! She’ll order the fish next time. Still would recommend as the food was delicious and the price wasn’t bad.

We were excited for the advertised experience because we love primitive. It was very underwhelming and too expensive. The menu is very short and offers no descriptions, which is horrible with all of the old language used. I recommend questioning everything before you order. Plates are $20+. Sides that aren’t potatoes and/or squash are $9+ and non-alcoholic drinks are $4+ per glass and are still very limited in options. Our food was average and plain. We just picked at it. It doesn’t make sense how some things are authentic like the 8 person tables so you get stuck eating with random people or the unseasoned food and no soda options…yet the staff that are supposed to be dressed up are wearing Apple Watches, Jordan sneakers, and have lanyards hanging out of their pockets and the bathrooms are completely automatic and modern decor. You can keep modern functionality while continuing to embrace the authentic old experience. Also, I do NOT recommend kids here. There are no kids accommodations. The group in front of us had kids and were basically told to go elsewhere to a cafeteria. Disappointed that we spent $50 on the bare minimum 2 person meal just to leave wishing we went somewhere else to begin with.

Step back in time—and don’t skip the rabbit stew 🐇🍞🕯️
Tucked inside the historic wonderland of Greenfield Village at the Henry Ford Museum, the Eagle Tavern is more than just a place to eat—it’s a full-on time travel experience.
From the moment you walk in, you feel like a weary 1800s traveler stopping in for a hot meal and a brief escape from the dusty trail. The staff is in period attire, the decor is candlelit and rustic, and even the menu sticks to the era—no fries or fountain drinks here.
We had the rabbit stew, which was hearty and slightly sweet—unexpected, but actually pretty good. The homemade breads and fresh-churned butter were fantastic, the kind of simple comfort food that makes you want to start a bread journal.
If you’re visiting the park, definitely stop in. It’s the kind of place that makes history feel alive—and delicious.

The food is pretty good, didn't give sauce for the salad though, the service was great, and the place was pretty cool in general
Cool authentic tavern that is located right in the heart of the village. I love that it was only lit by candles, the roaring fire going, and the light coming in from outside.
The menu was very authentic as well, with stewed rabbit and beef pasties. We were first served some bread, jam, pickles and butter which was a nice starter. I then got the salmon croquette’s, and my friend got the beef pasty. Both items were great.
The servers are all dressed up in 1800s clothing, and play the part well, but I did think that they were a bit rude.
The Eagle Tavern in Greenfield Village is an absolute favorite restaurant for both my husband and I. We enjoy both the ambiance and the food. They cook recipes from the era of the building (1800's) that are seasonal. I only wish they had more hours and were open all year.
Pricey but worth it just for the ambiance. So QUIET and away from all the screaming school kids. Limited menu of Colonial favorites. Recommend the hot cider on a cold day. I had beef pie and hubby had rabbit stew. Excellent meal !!
Very fresh good food. I liked the 1800 era of this place 🙂
