Joe's Top Dog Restaurant

I always look for a place when traveling that feels like home. This is that place. We ate breakfast here 4 days in a row and were never disappointed. Great food, and even more important great people. Visit these folks and you won’t be disappointed. Next time my travels brings me back to Detroit I will be back. In the meantime we will miss visiting with you each morning.

My go to breakfast this week was an omelette with mushrooms, corned beef, and sausage with rye toast and not pictured grits. I’m a bit of a grit snob and these were great.

My family has been enjoying this charming Mom and Pop shop for years, and it truly feels like a second home. The daily specials are always delicious and thoughtfully prepared, and their coffee is some of the best around—fresh, rich, and consistently satisfying. The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, always greeting us with a smile and treating us like part of the family. Service is quick and efficient, even during busy times. It’s rare to find a place that combines great food, warm hospitality, and a sense of community so effortlessly. Highly recommended!

Good snappy hot conies early in the morning. That means they sell everything all the time and care about it

This place is hands-down one of the best kept secrets in the area. The food is ALWAYS fresh, flavorful, and made to order.

The service? Absolutely top-notch. Joe and Zoya go above and beyond to make sure every visit is great. Their warmth and hospitality elevate the whole experience.

If you’re on the fence about what to order, trust me, start with the onion rings. Joe hand makes them into crispy, golden perfection.

Ok....we are big foodie's and we are VERY picky where we eat. Joe's was fantastic. Small establishment but Joe has a big heart with his love of the grill. The food is plentiful but not so much that you are a glutton. It's the right amount, large eggs, hash browns that are not salty, great coffee and fresh bread. Reasonably priced, clean washrooms, nice plates and the service was top notch. Leaving Toronto for a Detroit getaway always has us excited for the food Detroit. We have never had a bad meal in Detroit and Joe's Top Dog is now on our favorite list. Well done, and fyi... Joe is very appreciative and polite to his customers, that made us feel we are appreciated 👍

I sincerely love to eat here. Not only is the food amazing. Everyone there is so friendly. My daughter is a year and 4 months she's learning to eat so she definitely can be messy. They always remind me to not worry about it. I will continue to talk about this amazing place because so many people need to know how amazing they are and there food ❤️ I always look foward to there quotes of there day and there amazing conversation.
There so cheerful and full of joy it's contagious.

So today I visit the restaurant and I didn’t have any cash on me and it was a minimum for credit cards so the waitress there literally pay for my food. I thought that was the most sweetest thing ever because my total was only five bucks but you had to spend a minimum $10 so instead of her letting me walk away, she went to the back went in her pocketbook and payed for my food I just wanna say thank you she’s the best I have ever had in my life she brought tears to my eye 100/100 cause I’m always the one doing things like this to happen to you I was overjoyed

Joe's Top Dog is family owned and has been in business for 42+ and I see why. The owners are are amazing people. Aside from that, the food is DELICIOUS, I've never been disappointed! The daily specials are on point, especially Wednesday- CONEY DAY!!!! The quality of the food is A-1!!! I will be back again x 10000!
