I got general tso's chicken. The chicken is soggy and the sauce is just flat out bad and the rice is way over cooked. They don't serve eggrolls and a small hot n sour costs 6 dollars. The pop is warm, I didn't get a fortune cookie and in case it matters to you, the people that run the place aren't chinese... This was easily the worst chinese food ive had in awhile.

Sweet and sour chicken was good, crispy texture. Shrimp fried rice had full size shrimp which was great. Spring roll was just ok. My issue was with the pricing and lack of transparency when ordering. The lunch special is supposed to have entree, spring or egg roll(egg roll no longer available) and white or shrimp fried rice for $6.95. The items are now sold separately only, with the shrimp fried rice being a $4.XX up charge and the spring roll a $1.XX up charge. With the addition of a can of coke, my total came out to $16.07. Very frustrating that I was not informed during the ordering process of any of these up charges.

I recently ordered a quart of the shrimp fried rice. It was my first time trying this place and I wished I would have went somewhere else. It was just so bland. I should have known as soon as I opened the box since the rice was practically white. It had no flavor at all, no salt, no spice. There was some veggies like peas and carrots mixed in but there wasn't any bean sprouts in it which was another disappointment. I poured myself a small bowl and had to use so much soy sauce, chili oil and salt to make it edible. A positive thing I will say is the shrimp was cooked nicely and it seemed like the food was cooked fresh.

Is Red Star in business anymore? We have tried multiple times (5 times) in the last three months during their open hours to get red star and no one answers the phone. Recently went to the restaurant and the open sign was on but the door was locked? Just want an answer

We love the food, but it sucks that they never answer their phone during their open hours. Their site says Tuesdays through Sundays they're open. If that's not the case they need to update their site and actually set up a voicemail system.

I've been going to this place before the current owners took over. I never had an issue and loved the food and service. Last year I had ordered and there was a hair in my food. I called just to let them what happened to know to be careful next time and with other patrons. The girl on the phone said oh okay. No apology, which is all I was looking for. I did not want a refund just acknowledgement and that they would take more precautions. 2 weeks later I went to order again bc I wanted to give it a second chance thinking it was a fluke. This time my sister and I both got a hair in each of our orders. I called and told them it happened again (seems like they disregarded my concern the first time and didnt think to wear hair nets). I was met again with no remorse, concern, or regard for customer complaints. I never asked for a refund just looking out for their customers. I haven't been back ever since.

Red Star is a great place to get carry out. We are vegan and vegetarian and Red Star has great options for us, including vegan chicken and beef. They always get our orders correct. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would : )

This place was terrible i don't know why eater detroit said to come here. There mapo tofu was a nasty gravy sauce with no heat or flavor. The beef and broccoli was not edible the beef was way to tough and the sauce they had was way to watery.

It was okay. The rice I had was mid and I couldn't finish the soy nuggets a I ordered because they just honestly didn't taste good. Not my cup of tea and I don't think I'll be trying it again.
