Senate Coney Island Restaurant

Just recently moved out of the area but lived by this Coney for about 9 years. I have only been a few times, and my most recent visit was while I was moving things to the new house about a week ago. Just a regular coney so nothing crazy special, but you can tell it's one of those places that has more than a few regulars. The service and food during each visit was good overall. If you are a big fan of coney's this may be a good place for you!

Every time I come here I’m paying a different price for the SAME MEAL!! One days it’s $15.79, $12.34, $13, $15 and now $17.56 FOR THE SUPREME SKILLET SUB TURKEY SAUSAGE, no egg! Today, I ordered the same thing, placed the order before I started my job. BUT There’s egg pieces from previous orders that has gotten in my skillet. Of course, I called to have it replaced as I HATE THE SMELL of eggs! They answered, tell me I have to bring it back up there so that he can see it, as I’m explaining that I couldn’t come up there at the moment bc my I started my route, the phone hangs up! I calll back and a nice lady picks up but THEN I hear the COOK in the background YELLING “there’s no egg in there” “she want it replaced bring the food back” some on some so forth. The employee comes back to the phone and says “yeah he’s still yelling you have to bring it back today” UNPROFESSIONAL! I’ve been going to this place everyday for past 3 weeks, but today was my final straw! I’ll take my money to another Coney Island that appreciate my business and have no problem making it right! Instead of all that damn yelling he did! Clean the GRILL PROPERLY NEXT TIME and you won’t get complaints! But I won’t be back! Bad business and I have TERRIBLE taste in my mouth from this establishment!

This place feels like a racist place I had a horrible experience there I literally ordered my food and waited to be served and all the white waitress ignored me then a Arabic man walked up after me and they started helping him immediately,, they finished helping him and walked away from me (I'm black) then I stood there for an additional 5 min before anyone even acknowledge me,, worst customer service,, place feels racist, if you are black don't go, most racist coney I have ever been to,💯✅

Have eaten here several times but have always seen that the TV is on a very right wing news program. When I complained, the "owner" said too bad. I asked if she would change it to something less political but she refused. I won't be eating there any more. I think the TV programming should be part of creating a pleasant atmosphere and I find this to be offensive for me and probably other customers. I hope they will change this policy in the future.

Even though my steak wasn't Medium Rare as ordered, it was still delicious! Well balanced steak and egg dish with a delicious hot chocolate with whipped cream topping for this chilly October weather!

The service was immaculate! Very friendly and courteous employees! An enjoyable experience for the family for sure!

Senate is awesome! Me and my family have been coming here and to the Livonia location since long before I was born, 40+years. I have so many good memories of Senate. Infact, NOBODY can make a rice pudding quite the same way they do, and I don't really ever order it unless I'm getting it from Senate. Their fries are also extremely unique. I'm also not a big fries guy, but if I order fries, again, they've gotta be from Senate. It's extremely disappointing that their hours in Dearborn have changed so drastically. I couldn't believe they closed so early. Nevertheless, I actually got up early and drove from Southfield to get a breakfast and dinner carry out, bc I knew they would be closed later. I'd rather do a little extra if it means supporting a Metro Detroit icon of a Coney restaurant. Thanks for the many years of fond memories with my family. I will continue to support you guys as long as you're around!
