The reviews don't lie! This place is wonderful. From the tea to the fish to the beans, everything was delicious. Highly recommend giving this a try.
DELICIOUS!!! The staff was very friendly in helping to navigate the menu, and I wished I could just eat all night.
Wow....the most flavorful meal we've had in ages! Great value, super friendly staff, our waitress was super helpful guiding us in our selections as it was our first time visiting. We will be spreading the work for sure! Very healthy dishes, including the desserts. Highly recommend!
The food was wonderful the service very good. Overall we enjoyed the experience and will definitely be back. The only downside was that it was very busy. But: Those packed tables tell a story of an outstanding restaurant.
My friend and I tried Baobab Fare before hitting a production at the Fisher Theater. The space was warm and welcoming... very cozy. The service was attentive without being too much and the wait staff was very friendly. The food was incredible! My friend and I both ordered the Mhogo - a Wednesday only feature. It was delicous! My friend ordered the Shokola y Karanga for dessert. It was a chocolate pudding topped with spicy peanuts. The contrast of sweet, spicy and salty was amazing! I highly recommend the restaurant... everything was just right!
ALWAYS excellent food and service !! Clean venue and staff, courteous and knowledgeable about the menu items.
Good service, quick food preparation and a delicious blend of flavors presented in each dish. The fried plantains that come with most meals were prepared perfectly. Great destination for a Fisher Theatre pre-show dinner.
One of the most amazing meals I have had in a long time. My wife and I can't wait to come back. The avocado pudding is one of the most amazing desserts I have had in a longtime.
I've been hearing buzz about this place - we finally went before a show at the Fisher and was very impressed! It's a small place, so best to reserve a table. It was very busy, which isn't surprising for such a great restaurant! The food was spectacular! The samosa's were better than I'd had at Indian restaurants, and the sauce - delicious! All four of us had a different entree, and everyone was pleased. I had the goat entree, and it was perfection - tender, tasty, flavorful. The sides were yummy, too. Then came dessert. The chocolate mousse dessert had these fascinating crunchy spicy little balls on top - such a nice surprise! And the mango custardy dessert was delightful, too. Even the (non-alcoholic) drinks were delicious. My friend raved about her spiced coffee, and my ginger tea was perfect. The flavors in all that we ate were buoyant. The spices enhanced the food; they weren't so powerful that they prohibited us from enjoying the delightful flavors. And our server was a complete joy. This is the best restaurant I've been to since I can remember!
Food, service and ambience were great! We got seated immediately. The service was outstanding.

Great food, great service, definitely recommend. We ordered lamb leg and fish and it was delicious, going to add this to our rotation.
We enjoy trying unique restaurants when we travel, but, frankly, sometimes we regret our choices. Not this time! Baobab Fare was an adventure in flavor profiles and every dish our party of three tried was delicious, well-prepared, unpretentious food. The staff we interacted with were friendly and helpful. If we ever return to Detroit, we'll be back!!! No regrets!
I went for dinner. I ordered the Kuku. The chicken was very tender, I needed more sauce. I thought the plantains could have been softer. Overall the meal was good. The service was excellent & the atmosphere was bright & cheerful.

Delicious and you can taste that really good ingredients were used. Guilt free soul food from the continent ❤️ looking forward to returning and trying the beef option. Oh and the hibiscus tea was sooo good too.
