Basan was underwhelming compared to other small plate, fine dining options in Detroit. Some of the dishes were delicious—highlights were unagi tacos, lobster bun, chicken skewer. Would not recommend the hot pockets as they were too salty and not a great mix of textures.

Overall, I thought it was overpriced for the taste and portion sizes. Service was okay, they didn’t seem to have much insight into the menu and specific recommendations.

Vibe was fine. Staff was courteous. Food was meh. Shrimp skewers lacked color and tasted pretty basic. Twice fried chicken bun (recommended to us by server) was overcooked and seemed like it had been sitting under a heat lamp? Similar experience w/ tornado potato. Udon gnocchi was also recommended by our server. Gnocchi made from udon dough was tough and hard to chew. As a large plate, it would be nice to have more complexity instead of just dense dough blobs in a sauce. Felt a little thin without something like a veg, mushrooms, chilis. Neat idea but execution needs work.

It was fine. Wouldn't return. There are better options in Detroit.

10 out of 10! Good drinks, delicious food! Ben, the mixologist was superb! We sat at the bar since we didn't have a reservation. Quick walk to LCA on a snowy night. They offer Valet Parking. So glad we took a chance and ate there before the Brandi&Monica concert! Marriage proposal happened outside of the restaurant. When I figure out how to add pics, I will. 😆

Upscale food, ambiance and service. If you eat here get the tornado potato. Everything we have tried here is unique and tastes great! Excellent in dealing with food allergies.

We were looking for a last minute reservation downtown and Basan had an opening. No games or concerts next door at Little Caesars so the area was very quiet with plenty of street parking available. We had dinner in the restaurant but the lounge looked very chill so we will be back to check out. Food, wine and vibes were top tier.

What a disappointment...decided to stop by for dinner and start to finish was less than stellar...host were inattentive, greet times long, server was personable but kept disappearing for extended periods of time and food flavors quite dull (some items totally tasteless)...and trust me, we ordered a good variety of food. We were party of two and spent over $200

We came for the first time yesterday as a group of 10. I can’t say enough good things about our experience. The drinks were phenomenal. The food was so delicious and the service was so quick.

Good music (but not too loud), cool vibe, interesting menu that apparently changes every couple months, cocktail list that was creative and tasty, great service and food. I'll be coming back!
