Atmosphere was wonderful. Food was delicious. It reminded me of Hokkaido and a confectionary dessert was superb. However, the service was abysmal and rude. They weren't trained in Japanese customs nor did they have regular service quality. I was really looking forward to trying this place out. The food was spectacular. Service is less than wanting.

Bash, you’ve officially changed my mind about sushi.
Before coming here, I was never really a fan—but one visit completely shifted my perspective. The sushi at Bash is incredibly fresh, flavorful, and thoughtfully prepared, making every bite clean and satisfying. When it comes to specialty rolls, the Dragon Roll and Lion Roll easily stand out as my favorites so far.
Beyond the food, the atmosphere is very relaxed and welcoming. Bash offers two types of seating: the main floor features traditional table-and-chair seating, while the Japanese section provides a more authentic experience with floor seating on an elevated platform. Shoes are removed before entering, and guests sit at low tables without back support, adding to the cultural charm and laid-back vibe. Altogether, Bash delivers not just a meal, but a memorable dining experience. 🍣 Parking is street parking so you will have to find it but it’s worth it!

The tables are less than 6 inches apart from each other , so make sure u get a booth. Took forever to get a drink, took forever to get more napkins, service sucked but the sushi was the best I ever had.

looking forward to a visit in the future, during a busy night, and try the platter 2; for the Bash roll.
the miso soup is one of the best I've ever had. and their in house wasabi; it's not a paste and it readily dissolves in soy sauce.
the food is presented well. and Savannah was very attentive and no stranger to the items on the menu, very helpful.

Update to my original review. After my fiancé spoke with the staff things were quickly fixed. I am very glad we gave it another try on a different day! Sushi was amazing and almost melts like in your mouth.

The sushi combination platters for parties of 2+ are highly recommended. Really enjoyed the warm sake 'Old Cabin' which was recommend by the staff. Recommend making reservations, especially if you want to try the traditional Japanese dining experience. They do offer omakase, but you have to make reservations in advance.

Appreciate that they have a separately labeled vegan and vegetarian menu. The V sushi platter is a good value and delicious combinations. Pair with a carafe from the extensive sake list.

The sushi was good, but honestly not worth $29 some rolls. There wasn’t anything particularly special about it to justify that price. Overall, it was okay — tasty, but definitely overpriced for what you get.

BEAUTIFUL restaurant - i was recommended Bash by a friend, and let me tell you - if you eat here you are going to have an amazing experience. They offer traditional seating, have a very extensive drink menu (cocktails AND mocktails) the establishment has great decor and the most important part… the SUSHI. the sushi is so amazing and fresh and this is honestly one of the best dinners I have ever had.
Our server Kate was able to answer all of our questions, was very attentive and kind, being so professional yet personable at the same time. This experience would not have been what it was without her. THANK YOU KATE, & THANK YOU BASH!! ❤️

Edit: this place cannot get their schedule together. The website clearly states they are open at 12 on Friday. They are not. It then said they would open at 3pm and had options to reserve a table for that time. So we arrived at 3:30 and there’s a sign on the door saying they open at 5pm today (sign was not there when we showed up at 1:30 earlier) For people who live out of town and are trying to plan on a meal this is incredibly frustrating. No longer worth my effort to make it here when I’m in town if they can’t be transparent and consistent on when they’re even open.

This establishment immediately impresses with its superb atmosphere and elegant food presentation. The internal decor is highly inviting, complemented by a perfectly curated music selection that fosters a laid-back yet chic dining environment.
The service, however, is where this restaurant truly distinguishes itself. Upon inquiring about the sake list, our server provided an insanely in-depth and educational response. This sommelier-level knowledge is an incredible resource and demonstrates a commitment to deep product understanding that goes far beyond standard hospitality. In fact, the depth of the explanation was so impressive that the restaurant should seriously consider launching early weekend sake education classes—it would be a highly valued community offering.
From a culinary standpoint, the kitchen delivers quality. We sampled three signature specialty rolls and the gyoza, finding the food to be consistently amazing. When factoring in the two drinks, the total cost of $99.42 represents an exceptional value proposition for the quality, environment, and educational service received.
This spot is not just good; it has instantly become the go-to destination for all future sushi needs in Detroit. Highly recommended for the discerning diner who values expertise as much as flavor.
