The original Detroit pie. Pretty good. Opt for the old world pepperoni if you like the ones pictured.

Absolutely the best
Hunger. It’s eating me alive.
My stomach growls, the poor baby cries.
I go to Buddy’s, order some food,
sat at the table way too subdued.
Five minutes pass, we place our drinks,
another ten, I’m dry as a sink.
They bring mine out, but miss Quinn’s beer,
imagine if I was thirsty too, my dear?
Then as my stomach starts to yell,
the waiter goes, “Order’s in— it’s coming as well.”
Team, it’s right behind us, calm down girl,
“Down,” I whisper, trying not to hurl.
The clock is ticking, tick then tock,
6:10… 6:40… I check the clock.
Still no beer, but the side salads here.
my patience thin, my mood now unbalanced.
First time in Detroit, filled with dummies,
I search for solace — Buddy’s? Funny.
Rage now bubbling deep in my chest,
and they forgot KP’s ranch — I’m stressed.
I like tipping twenty, that’s my rule,
but not when it’s forced — this wasn’t cool.
Taking my money for less-than-great service?
Buddy’s, babe… consider this nervous.

I was served the most atrocious drink this afternoon at the bar. I heard buddies pizza was the best and the pizza was pretty good, but the blonde lady working the bar was the worst bartender I’ve ever encountered in my life. She didn’t know much about the menu and didn’t seem like she knew how to make the drinks either. I would be willing to give the place another try but maybe when someone else is working the bar.

Food is great! We have been here twice (we are from out of town) and for some reason each time we had issues/inconsistencies with customer service. This most recent time, we called prior to arriving because we had a group of 9 (including 5 hungry kids) so wanted a rough idea as to the wait time. We were told they couldn't hold a table (fair) and that the wait would be 10 minutes. When we arrived, the hostess said the wait was more like 30-40 mins and that the person who spoke with us was at the takeout counter and should not have advised on the wait time. We found this very frustrating. The food was good in the end though. Might just opt for take out next time :)

They don't describe them as such, but these pizzas are take n bake and arrive half cooked.
This is just after it arrived and fitting everything I could into a small convection oven, which I couldn't quite get right.
Make sure you have an oven available for your expensive delivery pizza - unfortunately my apartment doesn't have one, and I mistakenly thought that the high price meant it would be...like...ready to eat
Update: impossible to recover despite attempts with mini convection oven. Threw it out.
I ordered a carry out order for my family joining us for dinner over the phone. Was placed on a brief hold but shortly after a gentlemen answered the phone and took my order. It was a busy Friday night on a Holiday weekend. I walked over to pick up my order after 30 mins, as I was told to, and come to find out my order had never been placed. The young lady at the counter asked if I wanted to replace it, to which I said yes as I didn’t have much of a plan B. She said it would be another 30 minutes. I asked if she could rush the order as I clearly called to place it (showed her my phone call and all) and she ultimately asked if I wanted to talk to the manager. So I said yes.
Turns out, manager was the one who took my order (by hand) and left it for the girls up front to ring in. Never happened. He came out and quickly apologized and said they were going to rush it to make it right. I had already paid, and he refunded me 50% as an act of good faith.
I frequent this location and the food is always great. But the manager’s willingness to right their wrongs on a busy Friday night Downtown speaks to the type of person he is and type of shop he is running. I appreciated this a lot and felt this warranted a review given people don’t write good reviews enough as is, and it’s becoming harder and harder to come across kind hearted hard working folks like this in the service industries these days. Will continue to be a customer of theirs.

We were there on a nice chill Monday evening, as tourists. Our server was friendly and helpful. We had a window seat for a great view of people passing by. The pizza came out hot and delicious. It's a great place to try a yummy slice of Detroit style pizza. We used the people mover to get here so that was convenient.

i need to visit again to try other items in their menu.
4 squares of a meat lover's pizza. the crispy cheese edges were great. I'm still thinking about the pizza overall, and need another visit to compare.
