Great atmosphere and great service. The menu is very limited though. Overall a good experience.

On the positive side: very nice ambiance and live music. Sommelier did a great job to advice on an excellent wine at a good price point. On a so-so experience: food is ok, nothing more than that. Our waiter wasn’t able to make a good experience in flaming the Baked Alaska. On a very bad experience that ruins our Valentine’s Day dinner: the valet parking. They just “lost” our car. They proposed multiple options (???) but not our car. It took them almost 45 minutes to get it after waiting on a cold and windy weather. When going back at the front desk of the Prime & Proper (Cash Only is the speakeasy of P&P), they did not care and show no concerns at all. This is something that is unacceptable for the level of such place and the price point of the dinner (more than $300 each). Definitely a “no-go back”!

I had bigger expectations from Cash only. I really wanted to love this restaurant. Given that it’s a $175 fixed price per person, we were expecting better food quality. The ambience, service and music were great, but the food was very average. It was a fixed 5-course meal; I’d say from the starter bread, to the risotto and to the sauce of the prime filet were all very salty. Presentation was great, just surprised how everything was extra salty. For the price we paid, we probably would have gotten better food upstairs with prime and proper.

Cash Only Super Club is a unique dinning experience but the execution has some flaws. First I will say the service is very good, no complaints or issues from that perspective . As others have mentioned the live music is way too loud, so much so that you can’t hear your server explaining the courses or even have a conversation with the rest of your party without leaning in to hear what they are saying. As far as the food, it’s good not great. At this price point I expect unique and perfectly executed dishes and while a few courses met this expectation others were either poorly prepared (cold/ under/overcooked) or just not that good to begin with. We also added the optional wine pairing but as a result of the noise level you can’t hear as your server tells you what wine is being served, this could be solved by bringing the bottle to the table as each wine is poured so you can see the label (a common practice with most wine pairings). As someone who has dinned at Michelin star restaurants around the world as well as almost all of Detroit’s top restaurants I can say this, there are better options for less money. Oak and Reel, Besa and Apparatus Room to name a few. I don’t mind spending $700 on dinner and drinks for two but I do expect something exceptional and while the atmosphere was nice (aside from the excessive noise level) the rest of the experience fell short.

I was expecting so much better from the food at that price point. We’ve eaten at Michelin restaurants for that kind of money. The decor is gorgeous and the staff is super friendly but the service was a bit off. They didn’t serve our table all at the same time which was odd and didn’t know a lot of cocktails we ordered. Little things that came off as unpolished. Which would all be fine if we didn’t spend $600+ for two people. That’s $175 each for dinner, cocktails, wine, and tip. The band was good but way too loud. I even asked if they could turn it down a notch but that was ignored. It’s telling that the place was not more crowded for a Saturday night. The food was meh. I knew I was in for disappointment even with the bread service. I did not finish any of my plates. I hate to be so critical but again, incredibly overpriced for what we got. By comparison Oak & Reel has amazing food and service. The atmosphere may not be as unique as Supper Club but I’ve never been disappointed with the food quality and service. We could have eaten at Oak & Reel twice for what we paid last night.

This place has great decor, excellent food and very good attentive service. It’s a fixed menu so make sure you’re comfortable with the concept. Other than that I would recommend NOT going during a live music night. The music was so uncomfortably loud our party couldn’t hear eachother speak. Eventually everyone was just eager to get out of there as quickly as possible. Several requests to do something about it. Server was great but just couldn’t do anything to resolve. Would never go back which is a shame for an otherwise nicely executed concept.

Disappointing experience. They really hype up this glamorous experience on their website but then the dress code was not enforced. The jazz band was good. The drinks were just ok. The food started good, the bread and first trio were quite tasty. Then it took maybe 45 min for us to get the next course and it was just mediocre. The mains were also lackluster. They gave us a baked Alaska to make up for the wait which was a nice gesture but it tasted like pure alcohol because it wasn’t burned off properly. For how much the tasting menu cost and what the website touted itself like, I really expected more and was very disappointed. Would not go back again.

Cash Only is an experience like no other. It is the place to dine in Detroit, the absolute best. The service here is the best. Our server was so attentive and kind. He really made us feel special. He recommended great drinks and helped us understand that unique menu. The food was fabulous, Chef Anthony is the best ever. I loved the duck the most, so delectable and juicy. This place deserves more than 5 stars, it is THAT GOOD!
