Saw this place in hour magazine best of the best. All I want to know is who nominated this place? Horrible food, I cannot finish it. Had to put some sauce on the chicken to make me even tolerate it. Never ever will we visit here! No wonder the place was empty

Detroit soul is possibly the best meal from start to finish I've had in years. Walking in you notice how delicious everything smells, how clean everything is and how friendly everyone who works here is. The food is top notch. The breadding on the catfish fritters made my mouth water, the greens made me want to write home, the mac and cheese was perfectly cooked and the meatloaf was so tender and tasty. Then the dessert! Peach cobbler that made me make obscene noises, the creamy vanilla scoop and the amazing red pop sorbet were bursting with flavorful perfection. I highly recommend going here and trying everything.

They were nice people but I called my food in at 6:10pm didn’t get my food until 6:40 just for a pork chop dinner. So it made me late for work. Just for me too get to work try the food and it was horrible. The pork chops were not seasoned nor fried right at all, Mac n cheese too cheesy and it was nasty, baked beans just taste like can baked beans without doctoring them up. I mean a black restaurant should know how to cook the basis not too mention I paid 31 dollars that too much for all my food to taste terrible. The peach cobbler was the only thing that was good. I really want a refund but I know that won’t happen but I would probably never go back. I don’t play about food in this place ain’t it
Detroit Soul serves the best soul-food on 8 Mile. Their main dishes including baked chicken, smothered pork chops, bar-b-que ribs, fried fish or chicken, and turkey and dressing are the best authentic soul food in the Greater-Detroit Area!

I ordered from here several times and the food was good, but this time 12/22/2024 the food was horrible, Meatloaf dinner with cabbage and black eye peas, meatloaf no seasoning and cabbage no seasoning black eye peas ok , Turkey wing dinner, dressing was okay , the gravy wasn't right tasted like it belonged on Egg Foo Young , no seasoning on meatloaf, and they put the same gravy on Turkey and Meatloaf , paid extra for cranberry sauce and gravy which wasn't included in bag wasted $40plus dollars very disappointed .

The past few years the food have been horrible, only eat because of distance. Last 6 times absolutely terrible. Wish I could leave photos of the burnt chicken and flavorless scratched macaroni. Lesson learned the hard way.
