I placed a call in order. I got the fried chicken dinner w/ greens and Yams. The chicken was burned. It didn't look burnt but had a unpleasant taste and smell of being burnt. It was also rubbery. They only had 1 customer and wasn't busy. But they still managed to give me the wrong side. I ordered greens they gave me mac and cheese. They only got 2 stars because the Yams were good. So I ended up spending $20 for some Yams. The macaroni was Mid.*UpdateSomeone reached out to me offering to replace my meal. I thought it was a kind gesture. However I declined.

We had a small party of 6 and i say small because 3/6 were kids. The first meal and the last meal came out about 15 mins apart if not more. Our waitress was also taking and packing carry out orders. Carry out orders was also going out in between our table being plated. My food came out before anyone who wants to eat when no one else has food in front of them now I’m waiting and my food is cold I refused to eat in front of kids. I will return and I hope there is a better order of operation in place but I was extremely upset with the service. The food was good but I never got my cornbread

Me and my husband dined at Detroit Soul for Valentines Day and we had a wonderful dining experience! The ambiance was good and the food was delicious! Our waitress was so nice and courteous! We will definitely be back to try new dishes!

I was in the area for immigration processing. This is about a mile away from the USCIS office on Jefferson. Had the catfish lunch with collards and cornbread, and a 7-up pound cake slice after, with tea. Absolutely delicious and the server was very kind. The food is home cooked. The restaurant is super clean and well refurbished. Really happy I found this place. Support the area.

I had catfish for the first time here and it was delicious! The chicken was fall off the bone, the yams were hot and savory, the cornbread was authentic, and the strawberry shortcake was sweet and creamy. The owner is very friendly and has done a great job with the place.

Went a few months back trying to support a local business in the area. Food was terrible. Waited 30+ minutes for a carryout place wasn't busy and if you look towards the kitchen most things are premade and they box it up cafeteria style. Mac and cheese was gross with no flavor. Asked the waitress to make sure we had tartar and hot sauce and didn't have any once we checked the bag. Catfish was decent but I've had better at the local u buy we fry places.

Friendly staff with a warm welcome. Clean and beautifully decorated. I ordered the catfish and was very happy to taste farm raised catfish. I had greens and candied yams as my sides. Both tasted fresh. If it's from a can they are very food a disguising it. It's a little on the pricey side. Not going to deter meI will be back to scratch my soulfood itch.Wheelchair accessibility: Wide door and aisles. Easy table to pull a wheel chair up to.
