Service was very friendly but extremely slow. Had reservations but still had to wait. Very loud and food was decent but not excellent.
They state that all meals will automatically include an 18% service charge for the waitstaff. Unfortunately, this means they didn't try very hard to earn anything more. We had to ask for refills, and couldn't get them right. They also ask that you only stay for 1:45. We were somewhat pushed out. The food was fine. Wish they had a larger menu. It was busy and loud, more bar-like. Service was really the downfall.
The food was very good and reasonably priced. My drink was way too sweet so I just left it and got a Diet Coke. Need better bartending.
We've have been to The Block three times with reservations. 1st time it didn't seem to be busy, maybe that's why it was Excellent on all levels - from the reservation, service, the food! We make reservations because we were on a time schedule. We want to be able to enjoy a nice dinner without the stress of waiting for a table and having a meal in time for us to get to the evenings main event. The second night - Unbelievable. Reservations mean nothing here! They sit you just like you are a walk-in. We walked in, she took our name for the reservation and said, well we're busy, so just go sit around the corner and we'll come get you in 20-30 mins when we have a table available. We said we have reservation and she shrugged here shoulders and said you have to wait so go sit down. We did. We were sat in about 20 min, with a server who Clearly did not want another table. Therefore, service was Terrible! and when our food came, it was cold. Tried again the following night, since we already had reservations, and going on the fact that maybe it was just an off night based on the first experience. We were running a few minutes late, we called and she said no problem. Nope! Again, reservations mean nothing! This time it was about a 30-40 minute wait. We walked out with no plan to return. This is an unreliable reservation location.
Food and drinks were great. Service was a little slow and inattentive as there was 1 person covering a large number of tables. The restaurant was also quite loud.
Salmon and grits are absolutely delicious. Portions are abundant enough to enjoy at home later Food was delivered without a long wait. In fact, it was only a few minutes. Everyone served at the same time...excellent. Only a small issue, the music is quite loud...maybe not for all but for me, over 70 .
As always our date night was stupendous at The Block. The food was delicious, service was punctual and the ambiance was quaint and fun!!
Had a nice date night here! The food was delicious and came out fast; we were in and out within 45 minutes. I had the Cajun shrimp pasta, which was loaded with shrimp and chicken. My husband got the burger and fries and loved it. It was a little noisy at first, but once a large group nearby left, it was much easier to talk. Definitely recommend if you're looking for a quick but satisfying meal in Midtown.
Food 10 out of 10. Great vibes. Live DJ. Waitresses Reese was great. I went for Sunday brunch 😋
We didn't realize that Saturday menu is ONLY brunch until 4:00. That was disappointing. The food was good but the music was ridiculously loud. Way too loud to enjoy a meal.

At The Block, the food is Ahwaz's delicious, serving sizes are generous. And the waitstaff are always friendly and happy to suggest their favorite entrees or desserts. At times, it can be very loud and lively in this restaurant, so not a place you would go to for a ‘quiet' romantic dinner. There is a always a good mix of different types of people here and depending on what's on the big screen, it often dictates the crowds or vibe. We always enjoy our meals ( and take food home with us) and will definitely return again!
We were welcomed warmly as we arrived. Seating was changed upon request, due to close proximity to the main entrance. Our waitress was polite and extremely attentive. The food was exceptionally delicious. We arrived in time for happy hour and the selections were all very good. The salads we ordered were huge. The wings ( barbecue ) were tender and tasty. The spinach artichoke dip was amazing!!! We have been coming here for years and will continue to do so.
Fantastic restaurant with delicious food with a different flare Staff are attentive and engaging. Third visit. And I will return
Fantastic food ( the Pear & Fennel Salad with Chicken) was Remarkable! Service by Van was perfect!
Great location if you're headed to Symphony Hall 1/2 block away. It's extremely loud. Exposed brick + high ceilings & no noise absorbing panels or cloth = loud. Friendly service. Good deals on happy hour drinks, otherwise the prices are silly. HH Brussels sprouts are yummy & good deal; if that's the usual serving size for another $8 then huge rip off. Shrimp tacos, short rib tacos, salmon burger all good. Scant beer list if that's what you drink. Next trip into downtown we'd try another place for lower noise level.
