On 10/28 we contacted 5 Iron Golf as we were trying to be proactive and booked ahead of the holiday rush to make sure that the date/time that we had in mind was secured. Per the customer service rep that we spoke with, we were quoted $30/hr. per lane and we were told the per policy, we have to wait to schedule until 14 days prior to the date/time we are looking to come in. As we patiently waited as requested for 5 weeks to call back to secure 2 lanes of duck bowling for party of 12. We were visiting the website browsing activities and menu, we noticed a price increase however it was unclear as to why/when this price increase took place. At this time I called and was able to speak with an amazing customer service rep by the name of Max. I explained to Max the reason behind my call (to inquire about the price increase) and he placed me on hold and then came back to inform me that effective 12/1 the price was increased from $30/hr. per lane to $80/hr. per lane due to the “holiday rush”. A bit taken back, I stressed that was a huge change that I was not told would take place when I called back on 10/28. I was a concerned because on 10/28 our supervisor at the time, gifted us $120 gift certificate via 5 Iron Golf to cover the cost of two lanes for two hours. Max did explain that he will try his best to satisfy us as a customer since we were not informed back on 10/28 when we were instructed to call back on 12/5 to book. At the VERY least, I feel that it should have been disclosed that there would be a price increase for the month of December since that was the month we were looking to book. As explained by Max, he did “CC” me on the email that was sent to you to inquire about booking. I was not prompted that an email was received so I did call back in the late evening hours and I spoke with another rep that informed me that Max did send the email and she allowed me to secure a reservation for 12/19 from 6-8pm for two duck bowling lanes for 2 hours ( I have text msg confirmation) Maria (Detroit Event Coordinator) and I played phone tag but then when I was able to speak with her, I was not given an opportunity to discuss our situation or experience. I was just told “I have a previous hold with a client and they have until 5pm to confirm and if they choose to not move forward, I can definitely complete your reservation” When I asked if they would be able to honor the quote that was given back in October, she then explained that you can’t discount the rate per hour but you would waive the 10% admin/gratuity fees and the minimum food/beverage purchase that would also be required with the reservation. I also asked if the other company didn’t back out and we were unable to book, could we get a refund for the gift certificate that was purchased, she informed me that would not be able to be granted but we could use it in the new year “once the prices go back to normal” Again, I was taken back because again, when we called back on 10/28 that was yet ANOTHER part that was not disclosed to us. I was also a little confused because how could there be a hold on a date/time that could not be secured until 14 days prior which at this point, we were at exactly 14 days prior and I technically already had a reservation. I allowed her time to get back with me and she did, I was shocked. Attached to the email she sent, was an invoice. The invoice total was $419.20. Which is TRIPLE the quote that was given to me just 5 weeks prior. When I asked about the $80 simulator fee, I was told “We do have an event fee for all large reservations of two simulators or two duck pin lanes.” This is the point in which we decided to not move forward with booking with the 5 Iron Golf establishment. It is very disheartening that a huge establishment would price gouge so drastically during a month that business would be in higher demand with larger parties due to employers wanting to celebrate the holiday season with their hard working teams. Take your hard earned money elsewhere!! I do not recommend booking....
Celebrated my birthday great experience. Staff was great.
I debated between 3 and 4 stars. I went two days in a row. Both times there was no one at the desk initially. I was walking/looking around for a few minutes. Staff were attentive and helpful once they came back to the front. If there’s another way to check in, I’m not aware since I’m new. I can excuse the delay in check in since they were polite and welcoming. I cannot excuse the bathroom. The floors were sticky and the sink also looked as though it had not been tended to in a while. I didn’t order anything so I can’t speak to that. I did not have any issues with the simulator.
My group had the worst customer service at the W Lafayette Detroit location. We went to duckpin bowl and were told we could get food and drinks while we were there. Our waitress was horrible. She took our drink order and took 30 minutes to only return with only 2 of the drinks that were ordered. She didn’t check in on us for a very long time but when she did return to take our food order she walked away mid order and didn’t come back. I had to go up to the front desk and ask if someone else could help us. We had to wait for another server to take our food order. No apologies were offered. The place has lots of potential but I will not be back because of the service we receive so how much money we spent to be there.
This place is AMAZING. We were looking for a fun place to go with our kids for dinner and to watch the msu vs MI game and this place was PERFECT. Tons of fun activities to do- ping pong, mini bowling, shuffle board, golf, and more. Food was amazing and drinks were the same. Price was great for the quality and service. We will definitely be back. They market to the golf (which looks fun) but we did not golf at all and we're entertained for hours.
Great place to practice and play rounds when weather is colder and can drink and get food too- dun atmosphere Ben is the best!
Five iron Detroit met my expectations and beyond! During my visit I was taken care of by Alex and Ahmad. As a business owner I know and realize professionalism when I see it and they exhibited nothing less! I’ll definitely be back!
The experience is fun. The staff is wonderful.
Great staff, great price, would give 10 stars if I could.
Had a great time, the staff was awesome. The only thing I wish was that the kitchen didn’t close at 10:30. The establishment closes at 12, so maybe at 11pm. Or if they announced that the kitchen closed at 10:30 so ppl could put in last orders. Other than that I had an amazing time and would definitely recommend

Five Iron Golf is great! Two of my family members took swing lessons from Jeremy Hayward ( discount for 2 people). He is capable on so many levels: his golf knowledge , his teaching ability, and use of technology to really help your golf game. We are from out of town , but will take more lessons from him, as well as our daughter who lives locally and has already signed up. We didn't know much about virtual golf practice, but it gives more feedback than being on the range. Five Iron is a hidden gem, tucked below the Cambria Hotel, with valet parking available , validated by Five Iron. Snacks available. We tried out a couple of the drinks, totally love the St’ Hendricks’ Mule and the Ghost Chili Mango Margarita.
We’ll be back!
Great lesson with Jeremy! Definitely a great spot in Detroit.
