I highly recommend for any and all veterans and families! Comfortable recliners rather than the uncomfortable airport seating. TV, airport schedules posted, food and drinks. And best of all, fellow veterans!

Pretty awesome that they offer the lounge to both active military and veterans. Much more comfy spot to get work done or rest before a flight. Grateful that folks took the time to make it happen.

Great staff and super friendly. This was a great experience as spirit changed my flight last minute and left me with a 7 hour layover. Thankfully the Freedom Center was available and I couldn’t have found a better place to relax and wait. Thank

It’s 630 and they are not open. Nothing on the door. Very disappointing as I arrived early to hang out here for my flight. Seems this is becoming a trend here as I look at other reviews.

I had a long wait to depart DTW and came across this incredible gift. They are doing a great thing and I commend all that had anything to do with its creation and the great volunteers who staff it everyday!!! Thank you and God Bless all of the staff and those who come through these portals.

Door and website says open at 6 but it was still closed by 7 when I finally gave up. As a military member traveling on orders and sleeping in the airport all night, I was looking forward to this place opening up.

A very comfortable place to relax between flights. Water, juices, snacks and big lounge chairs!! A extra added feature of Wi-Fi and an air printer.

The Evans Terminal Freedom Center is smaller than the one at McNamara but has everything you need and is SO appreciated

This is a place where a veteran or active duty service member can come put their feet up relax get a snack and wait for their airplane it's a volunteer run organization at Detroit metropolitan Airport and because of the pandemic it needs help so anyone willing to volunteer with time it would be welcome

Great place to relax and get a snack and drinks while traveling through DTW. It is free for military members and their families. I am a military spouse and I was traveling alone and was allowed in. The volunteers were very friendly and helpful. They keep the place clean by wiping down seats when people leave, wiping down common areas, etc. There is a flight status board inside for the terminal, reclining couches, water, a Kuerig, and small snacks. Everything is free. They do not have a kitchen for meals. It is a very nice addition to the airport for military families.

Terrible experience I walked in greeted the two world war vets and asked for a few bottles of water. As one gentleman checked my ID the other asked was I working as I was escorting a customer thru the terminal. I replied I was and he said we can’t give you water if your working. Blows my mind I didn’t know I was only a vet when off duty. I will not return here. If I didn’t know better I felt singled out. If this is a actual rule then freedom center is not free at all.

One of the many veteran organizations I feel genuinely supports the military community. I love this place!! It deserves 5+ stars and an honorary salute. Thank you Michigan Freedom Center - Detroit Metro Airport :) for your continued efforts caring for us and our families during our travels.

Great place for AD military, veterans, and even LEOs. Free snacks and cold sodas/water, departure tracker, and comfy chairs. Great place to kill an hour or so waiting on your flight. Be prepared to prove your service to gain entry
