Went in for some drinks w mom and sister and friend. No idea it was a leather bar but the bartender was incredible accommodating and informative. He made us feel at home. The bar at 6 on a Friday was so sedate it made me laugh because it was far from empty.

I had no idea what I was waking into, came in from Cleveland and just happened in this nice place. Our bartender, I wish I got his name, so welcoming! He knew we were out of towers and suggested a couple of other places, but we stayed till our ride came. Thank you for the fun place.

I had wonderful time, (they have karaoke and did it for the very 1st time). I highly recommend it, crowd was wonderfully mixed in 2 ways, ages and races, ages ranged from 25 to 75 and black and white split down the middle. So nice to not be the oldest one there at 44, and to have prospects close to your age up or down. Was mature crowd even for those younger then myself. Can't wait to take my best friend from the UK.

I am a queer trans woman who went to Hayloft with another queer friend. We were so eager to go to a gay saloon in Detroit, but the reality was devastating. For over fifteen minutes at a fairly slow bar we we continuously ignored. The bartenders repeatedly made direct eye contact before quickly looking away and avoiding us. One bartender seemed to even wave the other away from serving or even acknowledging us. When we decided to give up after it was made abundantly clear we weren't welcome there we heard laughter at us while walking out the door. This isn't an LGBTQIA friendly bar, that was made obvious; It's was a profoundly unwelcoming experience at a bar for cis gay men and not the community at large. It's heartbreaking to know that I would have been treated better back when I was closeted and miserable. Skip this place and go to Adam's Apple nearby or one of the other LGBTQ friendly bars in the area. It's sad to see this from a bar which has been around for so long.

Nice establishment, environment was friendly and clean, everyone was welcoming to my wife and I.

In the '80s & '90s, this was a good bar - not as good as Diamond Jim's or The Eagle or The Male Box (all of which shut their doors years ago when the hot guys abandoned Michigan), but it was okay. Back then, Hayloft was a "country/western" themed bar and most of the guys looked like they stepped out of "The Dukes of Hazzard." Today, it's chronically near-empty and most of the guys look like clones of each other - obese skinheads with goatees & tattoos, clad in baggy tee shirts, billowing shorts and dorky clodhopper sneakers. Lots of "urban" types here, and the stench of marijuana is never far away. You'd think with such a bottom of the barrel clientele, the bartenders and management would make a point of treating younger, fit, attractive patrons well. Think again! This place is run by fuglies for fuglies, and attractive people can just drop dead. Don't expect any smiles or charm from the staff, don't expect anyone to check back with you or see if you want another drink. They hate good looking guys and it shows - so no surprise none go there anymore. Only good thing is there are no women here. Those of you who remember the 20th century will recall that gay bars used to be strictly "boy's town," and anything went because there were no females around to get freaked out by men doing things men like to do...today of course, women dominate gay bars just as they dominate business offices and everything else. So if you need an hour or two away from the ladies, you may find that here. I've tried this place half a dozen times over the last few years, always the same thing. The other night I left after one drink and went to a straight bar. Believe it or not, I had better luck there with the guys than at Hayloft! There were two or three REALLY hot guys at the straight bar, both of whom gave me the eye the whole time I was there - even though their girlfriends were there. The straight bar was a lot more attractive and played those awesome '80s hits, instead of that hideous "thump thump thump" African techno crap all the gay bars insist on playing nowadays. NEVER GOING BACK TO HAYLOFT!!!

I love this bar. The drinks are poured heavy and the beer is ice cold. Nice patio out back with ample seating. Friendly bartenders and a friendly crowd.

I walked in and it was an older crowd and I felt like I was looked at weirdly. Probably not a place for younger people.

Great environment and drinks. The prices are decent. My only issue is the Karen they have that comes on Tuesdays. Besides the Karen this place is amazing.

Can be hit or miss depending on if there's an event. Drinks are poured well and with the new owner it's had some great upgrades indoors and out.

Chill atmosphere, and good drink prices. They have a pool table, pinball machine and one video arcade.
