I frequently visit Island Spice and rave about their food to many, but today, and the visit previously (last month)has not been a good experience. The ox tails were tough and the plantains were not sweet or cooked well
(hard than usual). Hoping that the owner reads this review and consider improving the quality of services and food that this establishment provides.

Food is great, I just come for the oxtails but the whole menu is delicious. I wish they put their Jamaican patties on Uber eats and doordash tho, I can only order in person as far as I've found. Otherwise great place. Can be a bit slow on order apps but I think that's due to rush hour or the like.

I’m a sucker for good food and good customer service. I didn’t get either one. I jumped straight to the Seafood Rasta Pasta on my first visit. (Pic for reference) At first sight, I’m going to lose myself in this plate. Nope. The sauce was so watered down, nothing had flavor. The sauce was sliding through the noodles like water. Only pieces of shrimp and crab. Not to mention, they left my beef patties out. A few days go by and I think, let me try something different. Jerk wings and rice. Simple. Nope. They gave me a half chicken. At this point I’m not eating this or spending another dollar, so I drive 25 mins back, to get the correct order. Not an apology, no eye contact, acted as if I was wrong. No my bad, sorry about that, nothing. The only reason I gave 2 stars is because the chef was my type.

First time and won’t be my last. I’m new to Detroit and I have been looking to find some good authentic Yaad style cuisine to get when I don’t want to cook. The best Irish Moss I’ve had had in a years. Only reason I gave 4 is because the rice and peas could use a bit more freshness and my fried chicken was a bit on the dry side

This place never disappointed me, until today. I ordered a curry goat dinner off DoorDash, when I got my food, there was a big mess inside the bag, there was barely any meat, they gave me bones and tried to top it off with gravy, there was nothing DoorDash could do, and when I went back up to the restaurant they did not fix it because they thought I was lying, so I wasted my money on bones and vegetables, and I won’t be ordering from here again.

If I could do zero stars I would!! My colleagues and I ordered 60 dollars worth of lunch for delivery on Ubereats. Upon ordering we noticed beef patties were not listed on the site so we called and were directed to simply add corn muffins on the order and once received they will swap out for beef patties.

We proceeded to submit the order with 2 jerk meals, 2 greens and 3 corn muffins. Upon accepting the order we called back to ensure the corn muffins would be swapped as we were told. The lady who answered was very rude and stated they will only send one beef patty even though we were told otherwise previously.

I asked her could I pay for extra over the phone etc she did not want to resolve the issue at all! She kept yelling she’d just cancel the whole order !!

I was taken aback because I’m a frequent customer and didn’t understand how’d the restaurant would cancel a $ 60 dollar lunch order over a $6 dollar discrepancy.

We ended up cancelling with uber eats as we were directed and never were refunded!!!

We were treated very poorly, didn’t receive any good, no refund and no apology !!!

I’m very disappointed and will be reporting this to BBB.
