Meeting up with a friend who needed a walkable place near the Renaissance Center. Perfect, warm atmosphere, and I hear there's a speakeasy upstairs on the weekends.

A German themed bar what only has a few German beers. How can a German bar not have Apfhelkorn or Underberg

Great bar. Food was delicious. I had the chicken schnitzel which was great. My friend had the sausages and sauerkraut which he loved too. Huge range of beers. I particularly appreciated the bar staff taking time to let us try beers before we made our choice.

If your black I wouldn’t recommend. My friend and I tried to grab a drink. The website says you don’t need reservations. The bartender from downstairs comes up and ask me if I had reservations and I said no but walk ins were welcome. So she says the booked for the night and rushed us out as quickly as she could. Then I make reservations to come in because it wasn’t booked up she pressing me again. Mind you she let another customer completely walk past no questions about a reservation or anything. So after making the reservation we come back and she’s being smart like can I help you and I mention I made a reservation. When I go upstairs here comes another person asking about reservations and being a walk in and so after I check in they put us in the smallest corner in the bar it’s already not super spacious so I ask if we can atleast move to couch and I was lied to again saying it was booked up for the night and no one could sit there. I stayed for over 2hrs just to see no one came.

Bartender was beyond rude. The water is foul and the food was mediocre… you couldn’t pay me to return here lol
I ordered a Dominic’s burger with fries, which came out to $20. Honestly, the burger felt very homemade and dry. The condiments ketchup, mayo, and mustard were just packets on the side, which I don’t think is acceptable for the price. For $20, they should at least take the time to put them on the burger themselves. The bun wasn’t even toasted just plain and dry. It also came with onions on the side, even though the menu says it includes onions, so I expected them to be part of the burger already. The food tasted okay overall, but it definitely wasn’t worth $20. I can’t help but wonder how much profit they’re making on something this basic and low-effort.

Food was delicious. Staff was pleasant
Quite simply, Jacoby's is excellent. A little short staffed sometimes, but worth it. Be nice. Great folks.
Absolutely amazing!! What a really cool place with really, really cool history... The selection of german beers and the authentic amazing food is absolutely worth going... so many cool stories behind it!!!
Service was outstanding! Great sports bar atmosphere. Detroit’s oldest bar!
Great service. Great food. We had the sausage/cheese platter, and their pretzels. Pretty tolerant of two Kentucky boys who hit the beer pretty hard the two nights we dropped in. The place had a good crowd both nights. Nice little pub. If I'm ever up that way again, it'll be one of my first stops.
