I'm also awaiting the reopening of J's Cafe. It's been too long. I just had another craving for their salmon croquettes, went to their location and they are still closed, please hurry up and open-up again.

Delicious food, especially the pancakes! Staff is really nice. Just great energy from customers as well. I grew up in this area. I’m so grateful that they’re still serving the community. ?

Jay's cafe , Grand River,burt Rd isn't the cleanest restaurant for sure , pricing is a little higher than it outa be for the place this owner has been here about 35 ? Ish years he's tired with the quality of food he puts out he can't raise prices any higher than they are irregardless of anything he needs to hire a internal deep cleaning service that will cover the entire place TO ME I'M TURNED OFF WHEN A KITCHEN UTENSILS BATHROOMS FLOORING SILVERWARE ETC ISN'T IN COMPLETE SANITARY CONDITIONS.. JAY IS TRYING I'M SURE HIRE A DEEP CLEANING SERVICE , IT'LL GO A LONG WAY WEAR CLEAN APPRONS.

This place is my go to for ALL things delicious!!! My wife and I love the salmon for breakfast but the meatloaf is glorious as well as the mashed potatoes... I haven't tried everything yet.... and they are ALWAYS BUSY... BUT ITS BEYOND WORTH IT!!!

I love J's. But this is my last trip there. The place is filthy all the time. After I ordered my food, I looked behind the counter in the kitchen area and almost asked for a refund. The grill was disgusting and black with bits of everything that was ever cooked still on it. All the cooked bacon was still out on the stove (after 5pm). The floors were so nasty that the grease and dirt from the kitchen were tracked out on the carpets in the lobby and were all caked up like it didn't just happen. The chef had on the dirtiest apron I even saw in any restaurant. Had to be dirty from previous days. My food had a weird taste and smell from being cooked in the filthy pots and grill. If you go, just look behind the counter in the kitchen before you order. The morning shift cleans better than the night shift but it is still one of the dirtiest restaurants in Detroit. It's time for a health department visit before someone gets sick. After 20 years of patronage, I'm done with J's. Sad.

I always enjoy dining here. It's a bit small, but that's what gives it its charm. Looks like they are either expanding or doing some remodeling. The food is amazing, I always get the fried chicken, yams, macaroni and cheese with kool-aid
Nice restaurant with great tasting assortment of food for the soul. One of my favorite places to go on Sunday. They have great cooks and staff waiting to assist you, and the food is so good they stay busy! Yum yum for the tum tum! Grandriver at Burt Road!

Let's be clear, this is a Gem. They offer almost and soul food you can think of. The salmon croquettes had to be the best I've had in awhile. Detroit! I'll be back just for J's Cafe!!!!

Tamika is the BEST!! Here is my CHEERS MOMENT; I wanna go where everybody knows my name, type of love. People are friendly and happy, now I see why, ITS THE HOME COOKED FOOD feeling. I had delicious creamy grits , with just the right grit. Beautiful scrambled eggs that tasted delicious, I had to add a little bit more salt for myself. Bacon!! Yummy tasty bacon, and lots of it. The salmon and croquettes was made PERFECTLY and very flavorful. The true beauty is, you can order some of EVERYTHING! Steak, lamb chops, and almost anything as a side dish! THE PRICES ARE RIGHT!! For two people our bill was $23, OMGOODNESS! I love finding little gems with huge flavor! Thank you Tamika and staff for making my visit worthwhile. . Coffee was Good too.

I'm several days late with this post however on Saturday 15 of us order breakfast. From over 8 orders of Chicken & Waffles to Veggie Omelets we were all impressed with every order being correct but also very delicious. Keep up the good work and customer service. We ? it!

placed a walk in order & waited on my food on the inside.My waffle was doughy/half done on the inside , omelet egg is still runny & not done. The chicken had more fat then meat, just thrown the whole meal away. REFUND ME.
