M & J's Soul Food & Rib Palace

Detroit soul is possibly the best meal from start to finish I've had in years. Walking in you notice how delicious everything smells, how clean everything is and how friendly everyone who works here is. The food is top notch. The breadding on the catfish fritters made my mouth water, the greens made me want to write home, the mac and cheese was perfectly cooked and the meatloaf was so tender and tasty. Then the dessert! Peach cobbler that made me make obscene noises, the creamy vanilla scoop and the amazing red pop sorbet were bursting with flavorful perfection. I highly recommend going here and trying everything.

Yall need to get the Jefferson location on here too, so they can get they props! Cause it was…nearly transformative!! From the catfish fritters; to the Mac & Cheese; to the Collards; to the moist juicy flavorful Fried Chicken; to the peach cobbler 😋; to the Faygo Redpop sorbet; to the German. Chocolate. CAKE yall!! 😱🤤🙌🏼💀If I could give 5⭐️x5⭐️+5⭐️, I absolutely would. In a heartbeat. Yall DID that! Yall put BOTH ya foots in that now!!

I went to Detroit Soul today and enjoyed the food, the service was great! I plan to go back again.

We love Detroit Soul on 8 mile. Every time we are in Detroit we have to stop and get some food. The ladies are so awesome and the good is amazing. We have to try the one on Jefferson.

We were just there on Friday , my daughter & I…… very good comfort food… very friendly staff…. Yes we would go again! Highly recommend if your ever in the area….. 5+.

I finally get to this spot after hearing so many great things only to be UTTERLY disappointed. I ordered 3 meals and paid close to $80 just to trash the food. The pork chops were refried and the Mac and cheese was hard and dry. The service was stellar, but the food left much more to be desired. I certainly hope my experience was the anomaly and not the norm. I donated $80 because I certainly got nothing for the money.

This is my first visit and the food was absolutely awesome the staff was very friendly and so were the other patrons inside people handed themselves with class thank goodness because this is rare lately. Also I was 36 cents short for my large order I had the money in my vehicle turn to go around and get it and The Man behind me paid it forward passing the blessings on thank you M &J's soul food and customers, also I see channel 4 reporters and journalists also with famous historical people our featured along the wall. Good job well done I will be returning to try some of their other dishes. ???????
