While I typically enjoy their flavorful and well-cooked chicken, I was sadly let down by my recent order of red beans and rice. The dish had tasted as though it had something in it that was not even food. At first, I thought it was an unwise seasoning, but the next bite, I was sure it was not to be consumed. I have no idea what this was but will not be eating from them again, sadly.
Service is nothing special...No smiling, no greeting you. Just a ''what you getting.'' I did see them give a homless woman who walked in some food which was cool. Didn't appreciate being charged a transaction fee on a Debit card purchase though.
This is a personal preference review. There are two schools of frying chicken... the deep fried which is used for a crispy crunchy outside, or the shallow fry which usually results in a lighter texture... say KFC Original Recipe. I'm more a shallow slow fry kinda guy. If you like the crunchy crispy chicken... this is a good spot. They have numerous menu items, hence I'm going back for the fried oysters and the deep fried pickles.
