Disappointed - We have enjoyed ourselves in the past but Saturday's experience was NOT good. Maybe it was just and off night? We were looking forward to a celebratory family meal. We started off ordering a four piece arancini, and received three pieces. They brought a fourth later. When the meals arrived they brought three of the four meals and the fourth arrived about five minutes later. My wife ordered a second glass of wine when she was about half way through her entree, The wine arrived after they cleared her plate, so she refused it. Not one person at our table had their water refilled. My wife ordered the Cacio e Pepe, because she loved it the last time we were there. This time it was plenty of Cacio but the pepe seemed to be missing. She was very disappointed. Unfortunately, I am not sure we will return, or suggest Ottava Via to friends.

I've visited Ottava Via four times now and recently took some out-of-town guests for small plates and a glass of wine, but unfortunately, this experience was disappointing.

We started with the Calamari, which came with lemon caper aioli. Sadly, the calamari was chewy and overcooked, and the aioli had a jelly-like texture with little to no flavor.

Next, we ordered the Garlic and Goat Cheese. This dish has changed presentation since my last visit, which is a shame. Previously, it featured large roasted and caramelized elephant cloves of garlic that spread easily on the crispy crostini served on a wooden charcuterie board. Now, it comes on a plate with tons of small undercooked cloves that almost tasted pickled. Attempting to spread them was a challenge, as they were so hard they broke the bread. The goat cheese was flavorful, but the overall dish fell short.

Additionally, charging $18 for a glass of Robert Mondavi is quite steep. I also encountered a lack of knowledge from the staff about the wine selection; when I requested a buttery Chardonnay, they suggested Sauvignon Blanc instead.

On a positive note, the ambiance was nice, and I particularly enjoyed the patio with its real wood fireplace. However, given the disappointing food and wine experience, I won't be returning. It felt like a waste of money, and I expected much more.

Pizzas and pastas tasted great! Pasta portion sizes were small. Music was too loud, we could barely hear each other or our server.

I don't think I can say enough good things about this place. A little bit of a wait but it was so worth it. Amazing food! Staff was super friendly. The prices were super reasonable for how good the food was! Appreciated the non alcoholic drinks available and lover the bocce court. Would 100% return if I am ever in Detroit again!

I was part of a large group that came from Downriver to dine here. It was our first time at this establishment. Everyone enjoyed their pasta selection. Food is delicious. Portions are of medium size. Suggest you order chicken or shrimp with your pasta. Pasta is the main menu item. They do not offer lasagna, manicotti, gnocchi, or veal marseille . No complaints only complements. Restaurant is cozy, decorated with old furnishings.

We got 2 apps and an entree, but only the roasted garlic and goat cheese was enjoyable. The potatoes and the pasta were bland we had to season them ourselves to make them palatable. Decent place, at least the prices were reasonable.

McAleer !!!

Great food but even better was the service we received from Brianne. I am vegetarian and there is fish butter in many items, she was super cautious with my order and very informative.
