Walked there with my friend from our hotel, I raved about the place all the way there. We got there after 630pm, they were closed š. Google shows they were open 5-10. Windows taped up no lights on, no signage either, stating any status.
Exceptional food quality with great attention to detail in taste and presentation.

It's amazing š¤©
Visited with friends for a birthday dinner on a Saturday evening. The wait was very long for both drinks (which weren't worth the price) and food (~45mins). When the food did end up arriving, the flavor was subpar and one of us was given the wrong dish. Management offered free desserts for the table, but ended up charging us for them. They then refused to take back the uneaten desserts.
There are little vegetarian/vegan options & no tofu offered even though this restaurant advertises itself as Pan-Asian (tofu is a staple in Asian cuisine). Egg in the Pad Thai costs extra even though authentic Pad Thai already includes egg in the recipe. The restaurant does have a nice atmosphere and it is clean. We had a reservation and were promptly seated. Though, overall, I would not recommend this place.
Service was far and few between. Had to wait a lot in between being able to get assistance. Food was mid and drinks were good
Very tasty salmon, delish salad, nicely presented.
General PAO chicken was packing the heat but tasty and just the right portion size and flavor. Drinks were forgot the names???but not the taste golden something with ginger liqueur and honey and moreā¦.. pomegranate something ( sorry forgot the names) well done but both on signature drink menu. Valet parking available music was good but a bit loud probably enjoyed by younger crowd we have kids all the ages of most we were around great people watching as is the busy city and a tiger game happening all on a Saturday night.
Oh back to the menu our selections not in the favorites or drop down? Photo shows my filet stir fry and I did not get photos of wedge salad w slicedcukes and carrots and sesame and basil very tasty and my hubbys gen PAO. I thoroughly enjoyed our meal date night DELISH fresh hot. Oh almost forgot the beef dumpling appetizer and we paired it with the lemon aioli that normally is served w calamari also a good pick. It was our first time trying so glad we did!!!!
My steak and shrimp fried rice was cold. I sent it back and it came out cold again.
We did not have a good experience at this restaurant. The staff were rude and our food was not good
Very very very load "resturant" that felt more like a nightclub. I could not have a conversation with my date as you could not talk over the music. food was fine, but not very flavorful. A dish with "thai chilis" should be spicy, but was a 4/10 spice level max. Octopus was very chewy and not charged. Would not return. Drinks were alright, but expensive. Just moved to Detroit from Chicago, so I'm very used to expensive, but the drink was average for $22.
Restaurantji Recommends
I love PAO. Reagan was able to change my reservation to accommodate my guest and I couldnāt be more appreciative. Thank you!
It was ok, but adding automatic 20% gratuity is terribleā¦gratuity should be based on service. So if servers/staff know that they will be tipped automatically, the service will not be as great.. so be advised
PAO Detroit is a beautiful venue. We had wonderful service. The food was not very good. I had the beef noodle and it was basically shredded wagu which nullified the tase and the dish was overwhelmed with a ton of onions which was all I could really taste. I would saw it ranked in my top five worst meals of the past year dining out. My husband had Kung Pao chicken and he said it was basically like sweet and sour chicken with no spice or flavor. The pistachio cheesecake was very good as was my drink. The waiter was very good.
It was absolutely beautiful in the inside. The food was delicious but I felt so ripped off I ordered 4 drinks. 2 for me, 2 for my friend who birthday it was. We ordered them from the bar because what we wanted wasnāt on the menu. They were very pretty drinks. I never tasted liquor I thought the drinks were going to āsneak upā on me so did my friend it NEVER did 𤣠for $25 each drink I left very pissed once I realized they mustāve gave me mocktails. The food was great, Iāll go back but I want order drinks next time
I went here with some friends for my birthday dinner during Detroit restaurant week. We loved the atmosphere, and had really great drinks⦠but that was the end of our pleasant experience. We ordered off of the restaurant week menu and I guess that was a mistake. Two of my friends got the same meal (beef over noodles or rice) and one was cold. I ordered the same meal as my friend which was some sort of spicy chicken over rice. We both agreed that we were better off getting frozen chicken from Trader Joeās. It was truly like eating cheap Chinese food, which was extremely disappointing given how expensive it was, and that I was there to celebrate my birthday for a nice dinner. It felt like the food wasnāt fresh and just lacked anything that would justify the price. Super disappointed, would probably only come back for drinks if we were in the area.
