Okay so reading some reviews we were a bit uncertain how the night would go, but so happy we made it in.
To start (to slow/fast service?) I have no idea what those complaints were about because the service was perfect for what one should expect from a place that has the bar tender doing everything from making drinks, to taking orders, to engaging in pleasant conversation, to finally bringing everything to your table. Kathy was an absolute sweetheart and provided the place with the perfect amount of welcoming and "home-ness" you'd expect from the oldest Blues joint in the state.
To the building itself complaints. Is the place swanky and new and upscale? No, no it is not, but really, for us at least, that is another thing that gives this place its charm. As soon as we walked through the door I felt like we were fast traveled to a deep south small time entertainment house that people would drive across multiple county lines to get to because it's that good, and at the end of the night we left knowing we'll be back.
On to the food. O. M. G. This is what comfort food is all about. The Greens and Black Eyed Peas were soul food perfection reminding me of the time an Army buddy took me to his family home in Memphis. Sadly the picture of the food isn't the best because I was so excited to try everything I forgot to take pictures. Anyway, it took some time for the food to arrive, but that's totally fine since we were making a night of it and the live band doesn't start until a bit later in the evening.
Entertainment was so good!! Everything about the band was awesome. Playing and singing that your soul latches on to and just chills with. (They do need 1 new speaker though, had one sounded a tad rattly)
Anyhow ignore the bad reviews, and go take your time to enjoy great food and music you won't be sad you did.
Vegetarian options: 3 "bar food" sides on the in house menu available cauliflower, mushrooms, & onion rings. So not a lot of options.

RUDE OWNER. If I could give zero stars I would. Let’s start by saying this was my first visit to Raven Bar and Grill. THE OWNER IS RUDE. Don’t get me wrong I knew it was a neighborhood dive but you have the most fun at the dives sometimes and we were having fun. It was a Saturday night around 9 pm when we arrived. Oh, hold up it was a cover charge to get in this hole. Ok, we pay the $10 and go sit down. There were 4 of us grown, grown women together. NO crowd what so ever. Maybe a total of 12 people in the place including the staff. We sit for a moment and the waitress bombarded us about ordering drinks. Well I was the driver and had already reached my limit for drinking so I was not interested in buying a drink. We tell the waitress we’re not ready yet. She comes back two or three times and the last time she came back she tells us rudely there is a two drink minimum. Well hell why didn’t they tell us that before we paid $10 to get in this hole. I would have turned around because I’m the driver and I’m not having any drinks. So one of the ladies ordered a drink and in the mean time the band was still playing the blues. Good ole blues at that. One of the band members extended his hand for me to come up and sing the song with him. I tried to ignore a few seconds but gave in feeling uncomfortable but didn’t want to make him feel to feel uncomfortable I went ahead up there. While singing with the band member the owner walks up and addresses me and tells me directly in the middle of the band’s performance that I have to sit down and I can’t be up there with the band, you have to sit down. I politely obliged and sat down. I WAS READY TO GO!!! After one of the ladies finished her drink we were getting the hell out of there. The band finished their song and came over to our table and apologized. The band was great and was asking us to please stay. Unfortunately, the owner blew that for them. The owners only concern after following us outside was the two drink minimum. First time there and the last time. SHAME ON HIM. By the way it’s sticky, nasty and mildewed in there. ?

We came here to experience a new place, it is Saturday night and the Blues Concert was tonight. The service was HORRIBLE! They were so focused collecting money to come in we sat for almost 45 minutes before we got water. We end up writing the order and giving it to the waitress and it sat for another 30 minutes before they came and acknowledged they even got the order. The band was amazing!!!Can't say if we coming back or not after this ....
