Look. This place is special. Don’t be put off by the aesthetics. You’re going there to dine, not curate content. And if dining is what you’re about? Buckle up. I went with my mom and sister, and between us, we ordered about 70% of the menu. Every dish that we tried was a unanimous 11/10.

The lamb shank, the chicken sandwich, the brussel sprouts, the hummus, the potatoes, even the lemonade - all of it was prepared with precision, care and beautiful ingredients.

I’d heard good things about this place, but it blew my expectations out of the water.

Go. Tomorrow.

Incredible food and such a friendly atmosphere. The chef goes above and beyond to make you feel so welcome. The labneh is unreal 😁. Thank you Chef Omar and team!

The chicken sandwich is mouthwateringly good — spicy with a hint of sweet, a perfectly toasted buttery bun. Just fantastic!! We also got the bread pudding and were so impressed. It just melts in your mouth. We’ll definitely be coming back!

What a hidden gem! The people that work there are so friendly and want you to have a good experience. The owner is a hoot and he plays an important role in the local community. Lots of respect to him. I came here a while ago with my husband for a date night and we were very impressed by the food. I've been to Morocco before and the mint tea was on point. Everything was fresh and delicious and so reasonably priced for how amazing it is.
It definitely looks shady on the outside but don't let that deter you from walking in! Inside is so cute and cozy. I hope to be back again sometime!

If you’re looking for the best food in Detroit, look no further than Saffron De Twah.

We first heard about this gem through Keep Growing Detroit—folks were asked “If you had to take someone to one restaurant in the city, where would it be?” and multiple people pointed us here. After experiencing it for myself, I’m convinced that anyone who didn’t mention it simply hasn’t been yet.

I’ve lived in Detroit my whole 27 years, and I can say without hesitation: this is the best food I’ve ever had here. Period. If anyone visits me from out of town, I’m taking them straight from DTW to Saffron De Twah. No stops. No questions.

We started with the saffron tomato dip and pita chips—a perfect appetizer. The dip was rich and flavorful, and the pita chips had this special seasoning that made every bite addictive.

Then came the Harissa Potatoes, and let me tell you—I eat potatoes every single day. I am serious about my potatoes. These? Hands-down the best potatoes I’ve ever had. Perfectly seasoned, crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and somehow even better with each bite. I was genuinely speechless.

For mains, we split the chicken sandwich and the fish sandwich. The chicken sandwich was great—but the fish sandwich? One of the best things I’ve ever eaten in my life. I’m still trying to mentally process how something can be that good. Flavor-packed, perfectly cooked, absolutely unforgettable.

And beyond the food, the customer service was phenomenal. The man working Friday (6/6)—I wish I caught his name—was so warm and welcoming. He walked us through the entire menu and suggested the fish sandwich, which, honestly, might’ve changed my life. Shoutout to the chef too—they both made sure our food came out quickly since we had an event to attend. Every detail was thoughtful.

10/10 experience. I can’t recommend Saffron De Twah enough. This is the type of place that makes you proud to be from Detroit.

Everything from the food to the service to the ambiance was incredible. We had a small get together to celebrate a birthday and Chef Omar and his team really made it feel special and it was a dinner to remember. We will be back again!

One of the best restaurants in Detroit. It was a small roadside stop, but every single moment spent there was phenomenal. The sandwiches (chicken and shawarma) were mouthwatering. The chef even came out and talked to us for a while. Would highly recommend to anyone.

Came here with my girlfriend for a date night. Hands down one of my favorite restaurants in Detroit. The menu is simple and straight to the point, bold flavors and beautiful food. Nestled in a corner of the city, the restaurant might be easy to miss, but the overall experience was hard to forgot. Chef Omar personally made sure we were comfortable and very much at home. The prices are very reasonable too considering the high quality and effort put into the food. The ambience is very inviting, genuinely felt like I was eating dinner with family. For an overall experience, Saffron De Twah hits the bullseye for both exquisite flavors and exceptional hospitality.

Been wanting to try this place and I was a bit underwhelmed. Food tasted good, but portion size was on the smaller side while the prices were on the high side. The restaurant is also a bit dumpy. Not dirty, but low budget with a small seating area and tore up parking lot. I'm fine with the hole-in-the-wall vibe, but expect a bit more for the price point. I did go close to closing time, so it is possible I got subpar product. I may try them again, but won't go out of my way.

I can't possibly say enough good things about Chef Omar, and his restaurant! Not only is the food amazing - incredibly imaginative, then executed flawlessly - the people are warm and inviting. I can't believe it took us this long to find one of the best dining experiences we've had in Detroit. I hope you will find it much sooner. Like . . . go now. You'll thank me!
