Sahara Restaurant & Grill- Bar The District Detroit

We planned 2 hours to enjoy dinner before a show at The Fox. We were there for a full HOUR before we got our drinks. Dinner was so so, they mixed up everyone’s soup.Shwarma unremarkable. Finally got dinner with 45 mins to eat, get bill, etc. Tip is included which we didn’t know. Party of 4. Never even were asked if we wanted a second round. Considering its great location, I’d love to see better service & food.

Do you want to visit somewhere and NEVER be acknowledged? Great, this place is for you! Visited Friday 11/24 before visiting Ford Field. Sat there over THIRTY minutes and never got a hello, let alone a drink or food order placed. Restaurants get busy, but an experienced staff knows to acknowledge everyone who walks through the door. We are very patient and understanding, but ended up having to leave.

Food was great. Service was slower than I would expect for only ~15 people in the restaurant.

The atmosphere was good. The food was amazing even the veggies! The drinks are too expensive not reasonably priced that and playing a snipet of the birthday song was awful. While we understand the atmosphere Sahara should've understood the occasion and let the song play it was 1 song. Too much money spent to abruptly end and it's rude. I will return but for the food and atmosphere no drinks.

This is the second time we hosted a special occasion with a large group at Sahara Detroit and everything was perfect. The food was delicious and the service was excellent!

Vegetarian options: There are vegan options. The vegetable cream chop is so good. Plus hummus, falafel, tabouli, and eggplant salad.

Food and services was excellent! Love the decor of the restaurant and the outdoor seating. Great location! Try the potato chop and beef tikka! The best!

IDK where they found Tori....but an absolute AMAZING server. Attentative and just outright great at what she does. Now onto the food and the rest of the place. Conveniently located across from Comerica and Ford Field. Came here to pregame alittle before th MNF game vs the seachickens. I had the LAMB TIKA.....DELICIOUS! My wife had some asparagus, garlic dip, and Baklava....she originally wanted Quail but they were out. It is okay though since we know how delicious it must be. I also had a drink called "Kill the Pain" and OMG was it great. Definitely will come back again sometime forsure when we come back down here.

Ambiance is important. This place is beautiful. Service and food on the other hand not so much. No clue how it’s even 4 stars. Bland inauthentic Mediterranean food. Server was unable to answer general menu questions. Kid meal brought after half our dinner was finished. Overall horrible early dinner before our show. Definitely will not be returning.

Restaurant didn't even honor the reservation. They turned us away at the door. We had to scramble to find other dining at the last minute. On the flip side, JoJo's Shakes across the sidewalk was delicious, and thankfully quick since we wasted time on Sahara.
