Visiting from South Carolina. Walked in at like 11pm. Restaurant wasn't full but the environment was chill party vibes. A dj and karaoke serenaded us through the evening while we ate some delicious pizza, perfect crispy crust with a lightly sweet sauce. On top of that we had good service too. If you want a good time and some wonderful Detroit style za, make your way on down to SHIELDS and get the party started.
Need some deep-dish Detroit-style pizza while in Detroit? Can't speak for any others, but Shield's does a respectable pie, and they had a few draft beers available, too, along with their full bar. Everything was more reasonable than expected, bill-wise. Everybody was full of effort, beyond eager to serve, and appreciative of the business. Vibe was fine. A mix of a pizza parlor and a bar, and in some old bank building or something?
so good! i came here with a class for a field trip and they served us quickly and patiently as a big group. the pizza was delicious and the atmosphere is upbeat and great!!!

Spent 50 dollars on TWO drinks and a shot (I didn’t even know the shot was so expensive?!) but they were filled completely with ice and I didn’t even catch a buzz (coming from a freshly 21 year old who almost never drinks) was really disappointing. Was my first time at a bar. On top of that I had to pay an 8 dollar tip. Definitely not going back to drink. Felt like a ripoff. Everyone I know loves their food at least and the staff was very friendly!

When I first arrived the atmosphere was wonderful. However, as the party arrived 22 ppl, and some of our party began to order, things changed quickly! One of our guests complained about her food being dry , heated in the microwave and just plain ole not good. The manager Jason was quite rude by saying “I’ve already went above and beyond for this party “ but… not yet had anyone had food, she was the 1st to order( so she had choice words with him). As the tables began to be served, the food was coming out sporadically, ( ex. I ordered a salad and plain wings with sauce on the side) things worsened. 40 minutes later I received my salad with no wings and no soda. 20 minutes later I inquired about the wings and the drink, I was told it was coming, it did 20 more minutes later. I then went to talk with Jason, calmly and patiently ( the place was filling up) . I was then told , “ it’s not my fault that you all have a party of 30 and not the 14 I was told ( but it was 22 ppl) . Just plain rude! Because guess what Jason, we still had to pay gratuity AND deal with your rudeness! Lastly, if you want cardboard tasting food and rude service, then this is the place for you. Photos of rude manager, my bill and my cardboard tasting wings. BTW, this is the Detroit Shields.
Edit… See the response from Jason! Cause what he’s going to do, is get a he last word ( that is exaggerated) to make his point. Simply because he’s rude! Notice he didn’t dispute his rudeness or the taste of the food .But what I won’t do is go back and forth because use his 29 or my 22 , many dollars were spent (with automatic gratuity) and my family will never return! And guess what Jason, word of mouth from your patrons can be detrimental to your establishment. All I’m asking is for you to simply be kind ! And please put some seasoning on those cardboard chicken wings!

More grease than pizza and the general manager Jay takes customer suggestions as personal attacks on his implemented ideas. Jay is defensive and needs to be more accepting of customer comments.

The pizza hit all the right notes—crispy crust, melty cheese, and toppings that were so fresh and flavorful. Karaoke was a total vibe too! The manager/owner is super friendly, efficient and cares about his craft.
