Me and 5 other my coworkers just ate here 2 hours ago and the food was garbage and the service was horrible the wings and pizza were dry as hell and don't get me started on the service they were rude and slow and there wasnt even anyone else in the restaurant besides 2 other groups I will never go back and yes mr.owner I will be saving my money and going somewhere else

First time visiting this location was after a football game and on a Sunday. The food was delicious, generous portions, served hot and not too long of a wait considering they were very busy. We had leftovers- LOL. Our server was friendly, attentive and quick to bring us whatever we asked for at the time. The BBQ sauce on the ribs was flavorful and tasty. The Loaded nachos (pictured) were well worth the price and will fill you up. I ordered the ribs, and this order did not disappoint. The only drawback would be that I received a menu with pizza sauce on it, and I thought the restaurant needed a bit more lighting. Overall, the experience was wonderful, and I would definitely visit this location again. My visit was in early November 2025.

Unfortunately, Shields seems to have declined in quality. We ordered both a round pizza and a square pizza, and neither was good. The square pie was undercooked and lacked the quality we used to expect. The round pizza dough appeared poorly prepared, with the edges folded in instead of properly tossed.

Shields used to be much better, but it now feels like consistency and quality control are no longer a priority. Considering the high prices they charge, the product should be far better.

I cannot recommend this location anymore. Save your time, your money, and your peace of mind—it's simply not the same place it once was.

Great service and amazing food. Chatted with General manager and he was very nice and helpful, super personable! Waitress was great too! 10/10 loved this place!

The food at Shield’s was amazing! I tried the iconic Gold Medal pizza, and it definitely lives up to its reputation. The staff were friendly and attentive, making the experience even better. If you’re visiting Detroit and want authentic Detroit-style pizza, this place is a must-visit. Just be prepared for a 20% gratuity charge.

Came to shield’s pizza in midtown after a wonderful downtown for the first winter festival weekend. Decided to visit shields with family to complete our evening. The noise level was extremely high from DJ & karaoke, which is expected on the weekends. Ordered appetizer cornbeef & cheese rolls, they come out over cooked with chopped pieces of cornbeef or I think was cornbeef (terrible). Explain to server nicely about our concern & she brought over the owner who denied that the over cooked cheese sticks were the way that they make theirs. Ok.. here comes the pizzas (1) barbecue chicken & (1) cheese pepperoni. The pizza were good, but the meat on both was scarce to put it nicely. We ate our pizzas, because we were hungry. We already decided that we would not eat here again, however we wanted to let the owner know how we felt in regards to the meat situation. So, the owner comes over & arguing that he measures his meat out & count every slice of pepperoni so we are lying & don’t come back!.. we are like hold up! We are not trying to pay you, we are just letting you know as customers that the meat was scarce in everything that we ordered. This dude is a straight bully, gave us the middle finger in front of our children & was a horrible representative of customer service. He threatened us & was totally rude, whereas to we felt sorry for the young server who waited on us…. WHAT A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE FROM A OWNER… THIS WAS A TRUE EXAMPLE OF HOW PEOPLE GET HURT, IF YOU ARE IN YOUR FEELINGS. I ONLY GAVE 1 STAR IN ORDER TO WRITE MY REVIEW. A Person who can’t accept truth, can’t grow…NO WONDER YOUR PLACE WAS EMPTY….BEWARE!!!!

I enjoyed the food and time spent. The extra tax and gratuity are more than I care for so really enjoy coming just for karaoke!
