Currently here and I am very disappointed in the wait time for food. I initially order at 1:20 and still waiting for food to be ordered. The place where you order food is visual to the food being made (looks buffet style) that being said as it appears the food appears to be ready to serve, however the food came out over a hour after order time and given wrong (not the food ordered). They seem to be very low staffed.

My lunch/dinner was delicious
I purchased the Fried Catfish with Blackeyed Beans And Green beans. ( muffin and sprite).
Everything was delicious seasoned perfectly. The green beans were a little over cooked. But other than that I hate I don't have jury don't next week. Lol

It was unfortunate that some menu items weren't available but the two meals were good wings and fish were freshly cooked but lack abundance of seasoning yet the Wonder's of hot sauce makes it so better!

Came here for Suga Js Juke Joint. Didn't realize it was at Steve's Soul Food but anyway.. Three floors of fun.. old school on the top, live music in the middle and house on the first floor. Very nice mature crowd DJ was killing and it the food was good. I had the chicken wings and fries and the outdoor patio is nice. Will definitely go back again.

There are hundreds of restaurants in downtown Detroit, but I wanted soul food. After looking at the reviews, I decided to try Steve's Soul food. The parking lot was crowded which seemed promising. The restaurant needs major repair, the walls need to be painted, the ceiling had water marks. This was a disappointment because the outside of the building is nice. To order, you have to go to the counter and place your order. There was a couple in front of us looking at the menu, the owners son was at the register and one person was preparing the takeout. Once the couple placed their order we were handed tattered menus to place our order. I ordered rib tips, candied yams, mac and cheese, dressing and sweet potato pie. The best thing on the plate were the yams. The rib tips were fatty, the mac and cheese was dry. Detroit is known for good soul food and the food was just alright. After spending $35 for one dinner. I had to come home and cook.
I hope that better attention is given to the atmosphere of the restaurant. Like I said, the restaurant is located in prime location. You can sit down and eat but you will be eating out of take out containers.

I haven't had Steve food in a while, and it was a big disappointment. I had a rib tip dinner with greens, dressing and a side of yams. Dessert was banana pudding. Oh my goodness. The greens and yams were a hit. Everything else was a failure, the rib tip was very dry, chewy and hard all in one. The dressing was so dry it was like eating sand, no I have never eaten sand but I have walked on it, very dry. All of the food had flavor but part of my meal was undesirable. The banana pudding was bs, I couldn't even enjoy none of it and it wasn't pudding it was mushed up cookies and a couple of bananas. I'm so annoyed with this review. Steve please step up I use to love eating ur food as a matter of fact, I bragged about how good the food was that u serve. I'm willing to make you the same meal you serve me but better, including the dessert. I'm a home cook and I absolutely love to patronize my people but some of us just can't cook. I don't believe this for you it was just unfortunate. Please do better and throw those rib tips AWAY!!!. I'm willing to help, yeah of course with passion and pay. I also serve food and would never serve anyone food that's undesirable, just to make a few bucks. Do better thank you 😊 The staff was amazing and fast. However my meal really SUCKED and I meanYuck!!!

We missed the brunch and ate at Steve's. Everything was delicious! The portions were good size, yummy sides and they even have rib tips. It looks like a good game day spot. The outside can host many events. I love to see black people thrive 🙌🏽💕
