I heard great things about Steve's Soul Food, but I haven't been there yet. I'm looking forward to having dinner with my Lady soon, maybe for her Birthday.

Okay well lady at the counter is exceptional... I don't know where they found this woman She needs to be an employee for every business if you want to make money.. The food is over the top equivalent to your grandma... Bbq rib tips..Greens and fried corn....The environment is welcome.. I'm not from Detroit but if I ever make it back that's my first stop.. Don't cheat yourself treat yourself.. check them out....

We made a 3:00 Saturday reservation on their web page. We arrived at 2:45 to check in. The sign on the building was correct but you must enter through the main front door (...you mean the one with shattered glass from a bullet hole?), which has another business name on the door. The lobby was empty and there was no signage to tell you to take the elevator to the 3rd floor. Blaring music was coming from upstairs.
Once some exiting people from the elevator told us where to go, we told the hostess we had a 3:00 reservation. She said "We close in 10 minutes, so come back tomorrow." NO APOLOGY, no empathy and definitely treated us as if the party they were about to have was more important. She then ignored us, pushed the elevator button, and returned to singing/chair-dancing Sexy Redd's song they were playing.
First impressions are important--not the taste of the food. Since you mishandled the out of town customers who determine if you even get our $60-70, we took our business elsewhere. Did we/will we go back? When pigs fly!! GOOD customer service and KINDNESS go a long way to making or breaking your business. In hindsight, before we left our hotel, we asked the concierge about Steve's Soul Food restaurant. She hesitated and told us "They've gone down alot. You should go somewhere else." Damn... we should have listened.

Well I guess they was not ready for a party of about 20 people. Ok where should I start to the bar was closed and the young lady informed us that she one other person was here. So she brought us water, we waited because it was a birthday party so we all ordered food, which took over two hours to get. ( So we dipped off to the car??) They here are our orders mine was smothered pork chop pieces ? the dressing was good I recommend this also the yams, but that so called fried corn , ? nope no way. First you don't add corn to already fried corn ???. And please for me cut the onion up no one wants half a whole onion in there smothered pork chops pieces. It was very clean though.First time here since Grand River days, I'll keep the memories ?

Me and my coworkers went out to get takeout from there and order was ruined. Come back for a second time and they did the same thing when they tried to fix the order. The young lady that was in ruining orders. She wasn’t new and then they make you pay eight dollars for a large thing of green, which doesn’t look like a large.

My mom and her friend went to Steve's for dinner, their experience was terrible. Who in the heck serves you dinner in a plastic carryout container, very flimsy flatware, styrofoam cups to drink out of. Just a complete turn off and the food wasn't that good. If you are going to have dine in, have real plates, forks and glasses to serve your customers. Two customers that won't be back too soon and they are seniors with $2, lol.
