Perfect place for great dinner options! Had my first papaya salad which was amazing and the eggplant dish was superb as well! I liked the NA sour beer and kombucha as well!! The Lad Na was also great and everything we had was! Dessert is a must!
Everything we had was great! From the others?

Yes, yes, yes and yes.
Service - incredibly warm staff, but seriously. The hostess, the waitress the folks bringing out each dish, everyone was so upbeat, nice and seemed genuinely happy to be there (when does that happen.)
Vibe/atmosphere - loved, recommend a group of 4 (6 max) to enjoy shared plates, listen to music and relax.
Food - there was not a single plate I wouldn't order again, can't wait to return and try the rest.
Drinks - wow. Had the famous first one on the menu (tequila/mezcal) and their take on old fashion, both 10/10 and will try the others next time.
Truly enjoyed all aspects of my time there. Don't let the front door fool you, walk straight in, you won't be disappointed.

This is one of the Best restaurants in Detroit (Corktown). The staff is Awesome (especially Mary and Charity) and the food is fantastic. I have the chicken sandwich alot and it's always fantastic. The minute you walk in you are greeted with a smile and a great atmosphere. This is a must go to place when in Detroit.

This spot is so good it almost doesn’t need another review — but here I am, because it deserves the hype. I stumbled on it while hunting for the best restaurants in Detroit, and I can’t believe it’s been serving up magic since 2016 without me knowing.
I went with friends and family, and let me just say: the coconut pancakes are life-changing. We devoured the first plate so fast we had to order another round. Don’t even think about skipping them.
Honestly, every single dish was a win. The green curry, chicken, papaya salad, corn fritters, even the champagne — all perfectly balanced, flavorful, and just… happy food. The atmosphere matches the food: stylish interior, cool lighting, a space that feels both lively and welcoming.
Only minor gripe? The booths run a little small if you’re tall. But honestly, who cares when the food is this good? I’ll be back every single time I’m in Detroit, no question.

They sneakily added themselves a 20% tip on the 3rd page of the bill without telling customers then had the audacity to ask for more tip on the front page of the bill. Tip amounts are OPTIONAL based on service quality. Never FORCED, let alone demanding so much higher than the average 15% tip given!

We just did the tasting menu last night. I can honestly say this is the best restaurant we have eaten at in a long time, potentially ever. The use of farm fresh vegetables and making them the star is something you don’t see at most restaurants. My husband and I found ourselves gushing over the dishes about how tasty they were and how surprised we were. We loved the heirloom tomato salad, the spicy fried chicken buried in fresh elements and herbs and the charred cabbage was my husband’s favorite. When it came to the table, we were unsure and then could not stop eating it. Our server was so sweet and pleasant and the open air kitchen made for a fun experience. We highly recommend this place, esp for those who love Thai flavors. The tasting menu offerings were so generous and we will be recommending to friends and will make a trip back next time we are in Detroit.

Unfortunately we did not had a chance to try the food since an inhospitable and arrogant host made us to choose another place to spend a Friday night!
Excellent food and drinks. Very very good. Highly recommend. The concrete walls make the resto a little loud though.

One of the best restaurants I've ever been to (and I've been to a lot of great restaurants). Everything was cooked perfectly. Everything was super flavorful. Everything came out very quickly. Tons of vegan options. Highly recommend. We got the crispy noodles, the green curry, the chive cakes for an app, the vegan ice cream for dessert, and the corn fritters to go. All of it was fantastic! My new favorite restaurant!

I visited TAKOI Detroit tonight and it was an incredible experience from start to finish.
🍹 90’s Baby (cocktail): Fruity, strawberry-forward with a minty finish. Refreshing and perfectly balanced — a fun way to start the meal.
🍜 Khao Soi: The dish everyone recommends, and it deserves the hype. Rich coconut curry broth layered with flavor, topped with crispy noodles for texture, with lime and herbs to brighten everything up. Comforting and bold in every bite.
🥩 Crispy Spare Ribs with Watermelon Salad: Easily one of the standouts. The ribs are crispy outside, tender inside, with a sticky glaze that’s full of flavor. Paired with chilled watermelon cubes and herbs, it’s the perfect contrast of smoky + fresh.
🌆 Atmosphere: TAKOI is more than just dinner — the neon lighting, music, and energy of the room make it a complete experience. It feels modern, creative, and uniquely Detroit.
💡 Tips:
Street parking is available around Michigan Ave & 17th St (use the ParkDetroit app).
Reservations are recommended, especially for later seatings.
Menu rotates with seasonal ingredients, but the Khao Soi and Spare Ribs are must-orders.
Overall, TAKOI deserves its reputation as one of Detroit’s best spots. Great food, fun cocktails, and an atmosphere that makes the whole night memorable.

10th birthday celebration in a row with Takoi! This season's menu is fantastic. Staples like the green papaya nailed it. So did the heirloom tomato salad and curry noodles. Cocktails are always sooooo good
