The Block is the best brunch spot in Detroit. The food, service, and atmosphere are a vibe!!
It was too loud we couldn't even hear ourselves talking, Overpriced and the tip was added on for a party of two
The shrimp and grits were top notch as was the short ribs. The food had great flavor and the portions were large. Our waitress was efficient, friendly and entertaining. An excellent choice before a show at The DSO. Highly recommended.
The food is always delicious! My staff who had never eaten at The Block were pleased with everything! The service was great. Food arrived promptly. Drinks were yummy too, Say Less!!
Absolutely loved The Block. Went with my friends on a Saturday morning for brunch. The DJ was popping, the food was amazing, and the service was impeccable. I would definitely go back again, no questions asked.
The food was absolutely great but it was very noisy. They were slammed when we were there but our waiter was doing his best to serve us.
I had a blast for my birthday brunch! The food was good, the server was great and the atmosphere was just what I needed to start my birthday weekend off right in Detroit. I would definitely like to visit again!
This was my 3rd visit to the block, the first 2 times were casual visit, and nice, so I asked my daughter to take me for Mother's Day, I wish I went somewhere else, the brunch menu was very limited, the block did not cater to the Mother's ( there was no flowers etc) a dj was present that day which i felt had nothing to do with our special day ( a birthday celebration was going on, , maybe I expected to much? It was loud and chaotic, I made reservations only to be escorted to the bar area for seating (what was the purpose of reservations??? My shrimp and grits ( was told I had to order as is no changes could be made) it was ok however my daughter's wings was overcooked, we barely received service at the bar as well, my long island terrible! for these reasons listed above, I will not return to Block. It's sad bc I really try and support black owned businesses.
I love the Block, my go to is the French toast and chicken. It's so good!!! And the Sayless drink amazing. 10/10
Service was a bit slow at the beginning due to short staffing but overall it's a great restaurant. Food came out hot and fast, and drinks were great as well.

We had appetizers and drinks and enjoyed it! The food was very tasty and satisfying and the cocktails were fun!
AMAZING service and food. The food felt homemade and high-end at the same time. Seasoned to perfection. Try their brunch - shrimp and grits or chicken and French toast. Also loved the banana cheesecake dessert. New favorite spot in Detroit hands down.
Hello, Ate at the Block tonight before going to see "Women Rock" The food and service was very good. However, the noise level, on a scale of 1-10 (10 being extremely high) I would score it a 13, lets just say, I couldn't even hear the person next to me. We won't be returning. 🥴 Lary
The food here is so great. I've been a couple times and it's been consistent. The staff is also wonderful and attentive. It can be a bit loud here, so not great for an intimate occasion.
Food was excellent as was the service! I had the braised short ribs which were nothing short of amazing & perfectly prepared. The pita chips that went with the artichoke dip was also delicious! I will definitely be back
