Tried this place again after a mediocre experience a year ago. Update: still mediocre. Veggies overcooked, beef was super chewy, and portions small considering the price.
Hard pass.

Overall, it was a great experience for my family and I. Really cool vibe and atmosphere and the food and service was top notch from start to finish! We shared a bunch of large plates and the cocktails were also great. They also were aware and attentive to our food allergies noted in our reservation :)

We've been here a few times and love the vegan options. I would highly recommend dining in versus carry out. We ordered carry out during our last visit, and it was pretty disappointing.

We usually dine in but this time ordered delivery from the website. A little disappointed in the portion size. Also, the chicken seemed more like breaded nuggets and was just different from what we are usually served.

Really enjoyed the almond boneless chicken and the Ronin cocktail!

Great food and atmosphere. The food was reasonably priced but suggesting a tip of 25%, 28%, 30% is laughable.

This was my first time here and I ordered carry out for four people. Order was ready before promised. Food was hot and delicious, with all 4 orders having special requests, and all were correct. I spent about 30 dollars per person, I am okay with that due to great food and service. Will definitely order again. Thanks for a great experience!

This has just become my favorite place to eat PERIOD in Detroit. The food is so severely underpriced for the flavor packed into it but I would never complain about that. The drinks are fantastic and once again priced amazingly. Wait staff is top notch BUT there is someone there that really ties it all together. That man would be Marty, and he gave my girlfriend and I the best eating experience we have ever had in any restaurant. From carefully explaining the menu to us and helping us find hidden gems, to bringing shots over and slamming them down with us, he is nothing short of spectacular! We even scored a picture with him because he is someone I’ll never want to forget.

We will be returning to this establishment and letting all of our friends know where to get some amazing food and even better hospitality.

First off, our server was fine and there was nothing wrong w our experience with the staff.

If you want mediocre greasy one-dimensional Chinese food where salt is the principal spice and you just need something to buffer booze, you have a lot of options. This is one of them. The problem is that The Peterboro presents itself as something better than that, and charges as if anything about its mediocre food has anything special about it.

We got two spring rolls for $12 and chow fun w tofu for $23. Spring rolls would've been fine for $3 in a strip mall restaurant. Absolutely nothing special but nothing defective other than the stupid price. The chow fun was transcendently bad. Wrong noodles (skinny and maybe wheat?), minimal vegetables heavy on celery or bok choy stem, and oversalted brown sauce with no subtlety. The fried tofu was 1" cubes, too small to get the exterior/interior differences right. Fine if it had cost $9 in a styrofoam clamshell out of a truck that you'd eat out of desperation. We choked it down because of how much it cost and to make it to a concert on time.

The cute metal tray for the spring rolls was the highlight. Oh, and the green tile wall is beautiful.

We experienced a minor spiritual death during dinner - a hipster presentation of utter lowest common denominator cuisine at prices that easily could've resulted in something other than this tragedy. Jane Jacobs observed that you need environments like the one The Peterboro has effectively colonized to do the kinds of experimentation that make cities vibrant. Turns out those spaces do not themselves guarantee good aesthetic outcomes and The Peterboro is a clear illustration of that painful truth.

YMMV.

Let me start by giving some sound advice. Before you patron a business, check their Instagram account...if there hasn't been any activity/posts in over a month, DON'T GO(they're probably closed).

Right after THAT experience, I started looking for another place to eat. I ended up unfollowing/deleting several restaurants that appeared closed for good.

Then I saw Peterboro and decided it'd be best to call and confirm when the kitchen closed... Syd answered the phone and had a personality I absolutely had to experience IN PERSON. So I hurriedly left Livernois and 7½ mile area and went towards the Cass corridor.

There's a parking attendant waiting to scam you for $20 parking, then act like he's doing you a favor by offering parking for $10... which is what's posted on the shed(which is too dark to see). Just park free and walk the extra 20 feet at the shipping container restaurant.

After securing a parking spot, we walked into Peterboro and I loudly announced (((SYD???))). She looked up and smiled recognizing my voice from the call. Syd is the short chic manning the bar...GO SEEE SYD!!!.

Sydney is sooo cool and people oriented. I've not really been exposed to saki, but had a curiosity. Syd literally gave us a tasting!!! Then she made us sakitinis. Her renderings are soooo smooth.

There food is made fresh, but already prepped. I ordered the ribs, my wife ordered the shrimp fried rice. THE FOOD CAME SO FAST, I THOUGHT IT WAS FOR ANOTHER TABLE!!! It was obviously fresh though.

We ate and had conversation with Syd, she is proof not all heroes where capes, all the way down to what she's studying in college and why.

The Peterboro is a hidden jewel, and with Syd as a trainer, it will thrive and flourish.

Had a great dining experience here. Marty was a blast and kept us entertained while waited for our food and drinks. The wait staff was super attentive and fast, didn't have to ask for anything from water refills to napkins.
The drinks are uniqueand good, There are as many appetizers to choose from as there are entrees. Will definitely come back the Peterboro.

Vegetarian options: Almost everything is vegan or vegetarian but you can add any protein you like.

Dietary restrictions: We were asked if there was anyone in our party who had food allergies. We really appreciated that.

Parking: There's a large lot across the street with very reasonable parking fee.

The place has great atmosphere. Service was great. I can't remember the young lady's name, but she was really nice. The host , Marty was exceptional. Holds conversation like he has known you for some time. Gives great advice on the foods to try. Showed us Zen room outside, which was nice. Crab Rangoon was good. All the food came out hot and fresh. The fried rice with chicken and shrimp was ok. I first tried the low mein by mistake. It was ok, but I'm not big on low main. There was a Lavendar drink which was really good. Overall, I enjoyed it. Would probably stick with the small plates.
